Whoa .... GREAT IDEA !
Just got back from 3 days in Oregon attending the Oregon State Field Target Championship.
INDEED we have many many air gunners here on the west coast.

Sacramento / San Francisco areas have @ 3 Very active FT/BR & Silhouette clubs shooting many events monthly.
Even more * A LOT more folks who just shoot AG's with no wanting to compete.
So YES, could be a Rockin event here on the this side of the country !! .... THO SPRING TIME March - May would be a strong suggestion.

Speaking on behalf of the Sacramento / Ione Field Target club, we would be happy to help/contribute to this effort if this happens within a reasonable distance from our clubs base of operation.

Not necessarily your airgun laws, except where those laws may try to mix airguns in with firearms (I don't know if you have any of those or not).

Did you plan to bring firearms to a airgun shoot? If not then there is no problem ppl fly in and out of cali with airguns all the time?

I always carry a firearm. Where I am not allowed, I do my best to stay away. Unfortunately, that includes California. An otherwise beautiful state and one I wouldn't mind visiting otherwise.

We-eeellllllll... I don't know if this is really a fit, but I help manage a 1000+ acre family farm in Linden, CA (Map: https://goo.gl/maps/XlGCx ).

If blanket liability insurance could be covered, this might be something I could host.

That said, I'll echo others that have said they don't know if folks want more "shoot" or "show". Unless this gets heavily advertised, I can almost promise there would be no walk-in traffic. Haha.

Following from that, if you want more exposure, something in or near larger cities--especially SoCal--would be a better fit, though further away from OR and WA folks.

Also, November gets you risking rain. I might still be harvesting in October, too, which means "nope, nope, nope".

So, if people want to create the ultimate FT course and go ape with 1000+ acres and just shoot, that's definitely something I can try and do, but ONLY in the off-season, as we are a working farm. (Beans are almost all in!)

Regardless, I'd love to attend and help with in any way that I can, especially promotion.

Flying with guns and airguns is a piece of cake. I've done it many times and never received any grief of any kind. Actually I've had some very pleasant and informative conversations with TSA officers while waiting for the all clear on my guns which has never taken longer than 10 minutes.

Our group (Morro Bay Airgunners) mandate is to hold regular air gun competitions, however a less formal gathering with some side shoot competitions might also fit. We are on the Central Coast of California so the weather is about the best in the world. We are located in San Luis Obispo County, half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. We have the range space, camping space, nearby towns (San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay). If someone wants to arrange to have a GTA contingent, I could arrange for the space for practice, bench rest, silhouette, field target, paper targets shooting, maybe some meals (covered by entry fee), etc., and I would setup some friendly competitions interspersed throughout the weekend for those so inclined. The weekends of the third Sunday of most months is our airgun weekend. Maybe we could Saturday, fun shoots, practice, and Sunday, competitions.

Lots of space on the firing line:

Shooting ranges out to 500 yards:

We usually have "swap meets" at our bigger gatherings:

Space for on-site camping (free to participants):

A clubhouse for where we BBQ and eat:

Bottom line - we could probably host it but would need other volunteers to get the word out.

Los Osos is 5 hours away from where I live. So I could be persuaded. The place looks good. Looks more welcoming than Cal Expo in Sacramento.

Pictures shared are very realistic of the Morro Bay facility.

Tad far south for us Nor Cal shooters, and even more so for Oregon or Washington participants.

Good pitch and while near 300 miles south would make that trip most likely should a GTA fun shoot happen there

Going to be there in a few months for the Western States Field target Championship which Scott H also hosts.
Good times happens every visit there

For many, the two day West Coast field target matches are just an excuse to get together with like minded airgun enthusiasts and camp, shoot, talk, eat, trade, etc. Same as the GTA fun shoots. Hopefully a West Coast GTA fun shoot comes to pass, but for now, I invite any GTA members to spend the weekend with us (even if you don't want to shoot for score):
