I'm in Phx, AZ we are bringing back the AZ Airgun, Airsoft, Paintball gun show and Air 3 gun shoot.
We are hosting our show in Dec.
What do you think for AZ to help host your west cost airgun shoot??
Let me know so we could have time to secure a range.
What kind of shoot do you want to do??
We are doing IASS Air 3 gun Grand Canyon State games.

I would be interested. Hoping to attend the Extreme Benchrest event in Mesa Az because there really isn't anything here in Soc.......So. CA. Maybe here in Riverside County something could be set up, there are areas open to hunt.

There's a place in Temecula where theSan Diego group used to hold there monthly events. Not sure if that's still going on but I'll send out some feelers see what I can dig up. Lots of accommodations close by etc. just a footnote, but I think the extreme bench rest is in October in az. So would be nice to not have conflicting dates. New to the forum but really love the sport be excited to see a west coast event.

This can be done don't let the gloom and doom of California scare anyone off! I can assure you many shooting events happen in this state on a daily basis, the other thing I can assure is it will be well attended, Things that we might want to consider in looking for and event location is 1.A place to shoot out doors safely 2. A place for vendors to sell products 3. near sleeping and restaurant accommodations. 4. Walk in traffic for the vendors 5.Gun friendly area

I think it's a great idea. I would help with logistics, as I'm able.

For the naysayers of OC, remember, John Wayne is from here (I know that's weak but it's still true). The liberals in LA call it "going behind the Orange Curtain" when they come to OC. You can get a CCW permit. It's not all bad, don't let the granola eaters let you think they run the place. This event would not happen in OC most likely though, unless, as was stated, we could get the OC fairgrounds to have the event there. The Great Park in Irvine is not yet developed. It's the former Marine Base and could be a possibility. I know the City Planner for Irvine and will make a phone call.

Riverside or San Bernardino counties might be a better place to hold it. San Luis Obispo county could be another option. There is a lot of cattle country in SLO and there is even a pig population for the big bore guys. That is a nice destination, very underrated wine country region in the state. They have a fairgrounds there as well.

I'll get off my soapbox in a minute but I have to mention that Christopher Cox was a House of Reps Congressman from Newport Beach, CA. He served as Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security and also as Chairman of the Select Committee on US National Security. In 2004 he lobbied to end the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban- and was successful. He's not hand-loading in his garage I dont think but he's a gun rights guy and he's from OC. It's not all bad in So Cal. Dont let the noisy people in LA and SF think they have control..

The Pacific Airgun Expo was a bit north for some from SoCal this year, so a number of people didn't make it. Not saying don't have it up there, just saying they've had a few shows up there, and SoCal is a new area that could be a very good place for a new show. A major population of LA, OC, Riverside, San Diego Counties alone is probably over 10 million (wow, was I wrong, I just read SoCal has a population of 22 million on wikepedia!!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_California#Populace

For a few years I have been trying to get a show started in SoCal, so if it doesn't happen don't give up folks, those interested in assisting contact me and we can make it happen. We could use help from people that have previoulsy done an airgun show to know all the nuances of what to expect.

I guess one question we need to ask is: What format is more important to you? Do you want an airgun show where a lot of trading goes on, or does one want it more shooting oriented, and hence in a more rural setting. Having a Show and Shoot would be ideal, but might limit the number of hotels, and attendees since it would need to be more rural. Just my 2 cents, don't go hating for that statement.

What is the goal of the GTA Shoot/Airgun Show? Mostly shoot or show? Would they consider show only if the logistics were easier and attendance greater? Shooting if that's the goal?

Whatever the outcome, I'd like to support the effort.

I would be in 100%. I live in Big Bear, Ca which is the mountains in Southern California. Up here we could see snow in November but down in Chino, CA is where they held the Air Gun Olympics and would be a great place to have it. I have shot there once and is a nice facility with a lot of parking and easy access with plenty of hotel accommodations nearby and the people who run it are nice guys. The link is shootprado dot com (sorry, can't post links) and it is called Prado Olympic Shooting Range. They have a 50 meter rifle range. You would need to set up way in advance because local law enforcement uses the range for practice and books it in advance.

This is about a 90 minute drive for me to drive down the mountain and I would be there 100%. San Diego is about 2 hours, Santa Barbara about 2 hours, Los Angeles is less than 1 hour and Ontario International Airport is less than 30 minutes away. On top of that it has cover in case of bad weather (yes, even in Southern California we get rain, sometimes).

Sacramento would be a good central location in Calif. San Francisco is too anti-gun everything... Or Reno, Nv. Our weather is usually nice in October.
A regional meet out this way would be great.

Prado (or possibly Raahauges) is about the only public place I can think of for So. Cal. that could fit the bill.
My buddy Jeff knows the owners of the range at Prado. I'll have him make a call to see what it would take.
it seems their website is down, and I've heard the range is a bit run down too.

for So Cal,
it might be best to find a private property landowner who would be willing to host/allow something like this.
San Bernadino county would be best bet, as it is legal to discharge a Airgun in SB County.

That West End Gun Club you mentioned is not in Ontario it is in Lytle Creek (I think the club house is in Ontario), I used to belong to the club years ago. Unless things have changed that is not car friendly road, you don't need 4x4 but low cars, at least back when I was a member, could not get there. If the water is running in the creek you need a higher vehicle as well. A summer event there would be better because the creek would be dry. That said, I have not shot there in quite a few years so they may have made improvements. It is a large place with plenty of parking.

But for now I am going to test new ammo I made for my Texan and Bulldog.

Since I am from Oregon a site a little further north would change my pole from "maybe" to "definitely attend." However if it is in Southern Ca I would still make the effort.

Having promoted 2 of the 3 pacific Airgun expo's, I can say really it just takes someone to step up and just do it. Michael McKeown of airgun stocks here on this board put on the last expo in March. If Travis is willing to organize this as a GTA function, let's all get behind him and help out how we can. I'm available, as I'm sure Michael and other people who have been involved are, to offer our experience and whatever other help might be needed.
