Hill pump - Is this normal?

zandrew, That's the technique that works, sometimes, to get it to 'intake' air on an upstroke. Sometimes it will work fine, on both directions, above 2000/2500psi. Gonna clean, lube and reassemble it tomorrow. Have sili-grease and RC car shock oil in a few different weights. Any advice on whether and where to use the 30wt or the 60wt sili-oil?

Guess I'll rebuild the old Benji pump too. It didn't work any worse than this expensive junk Hill pump that I got to replace it with. Know where I can get the correct size O-rings? Have read horror stories about Sun seal packs.

Oh yeah. How long did it take to get a reply from Hill? Sent an query through their site's 'communication' form.

 Hey Yrok I recieved a response the same day but it was during the week. If you are having the same problems as the OP and I then it is most likely the #20 o-ring, it is the one that workes on the upstroke. Check out your local auto parts store. Never thought about using RC shock oil, I might try that on the outer tube.

Thanks Robert. Got my reply today and it is the O-ring you point out. But the O-rings are numbered differently on the parts diagram that came with the Hill Reseal Pack from PA! Gonna try one of the new ones while I wait for the replacement from Hill. Also got one a smidge bigger from the parts house. Hope this ends the wasted pumping effort.

ps: Put in the oversize O-ring from Bob's Auto Parts and the pump works as advertised! Goin' out to shoot!

I take back the remote cussing I gave Hill. NOT!!!!! It's still their fault!

I don't think Hill made a $)((# pump but I do believe someone along of the process forgot to lube the specific fail point that has mentioned. Once you have it fixed you should be good to go or atleast I hope so.

Never used a pump before so I didn't know there was a "problem" with mine, like the one described here. So, I emailed Hill and they responded less than an hour later! New O-ring coming next week. Great customer service.
