so when to talk to the fire dept.'s today, the chief told me he would find me a tank, and hook me up with fill, if i did some voulteer work { no prob as I already do plenty of that with the soup kitchen, 4H, ect...} they fill there tanks to 4000, so on a disco running at 2000 does this mean i will only 2 fills per tank fill?
pus what about paint ball tank at 4500 psi, will they work for intended purpose?
or can I use a big ol' co2 tank, and fill it with air???

If you're going to be filling a disco you will get a ton of fills out of a tank.  Here's an example.  I have an 80 cf scuba tank that I get filled to 3000 psi.  I use that tank just for my 2 disco rifles.  Refilling the discos from 1000 back up to 2000 I get 88 refills      Are you smiling yet ?    

I don't know what kind of tank the fire chief plans on getting you but one of the nice things about the disco rifles is the fact that their air cylinder is only 126 cc's and when you combine that with the 2000 fill these rifles take you wind up with a ton of refills.  

As for the paintball tanks.. it's my understanding that they are regulated for lower pressure output so they are not appropriate.  You want a tank that is rated for high pressure air and suitable for airgun use, such as a scuba tank or scba carbon fiber tank.   I'm no tank expert but I'm sure one of the other members who is will chime in and give you all the info you need.

Whatever tank you wind up with you will need to get the correct hose and fill adapters.  Look here..

yes that brought a smile, i figured it would be better than two fills but did not understand the math behind it, well I still don't but thanks to you I can see the light at the end of the tunnel

Honestly I don't understand the math either .  I'm lucky I can add 2 + 2  but there is a "fill calculator" link in the GTA Library.  All you have to do is enter the appropriate #'s for your rifle, tank and filling pressures and it will tell you how many refills you can expect from your tank.

i use a 120 cf tank for my disco, i have been shooting pretty consistently afterschool since november and i still havnt had to get a refill

DND, you will love using that tank.  Once you get the fittings to fill your disco, you are off to the races.  Congratulations on working out a deal with the chief.  He can be a great friend to you.  I expect if he fills to 4000, you will be getting either a 30min or 45 min scba tank which will most likely be a carbon-fiber wrapped tank.  The older scba tanks were aluminum and were rated at 2216psi.  I used to use them and they would take care of my disco for about 15 fills or so.  The better tanks that he will fill to 4000 will give you a whole bunch of fills.  My 45min scba tank is almost better than sliced bread!  Better buy a lot of pellets.

Cool, now that I finally quit smoken' I can buy way more pellet--- really cool deal from my guy at R&L is that he's going to pop her hy-man lol to send it to me with the pellets she likes
If it turns out that all the rounds I have are not what she wants I can donate them to that 17 year old that got that Gamo, I think ? Haven't seen any resent post from the boy. O'well they will go some where good

Hi What you need to know is it is how many cu inches or cm. it takes per fill . the lbs pressure does not go down very much when you are dealing with cubic inches per fill, For example a  80 cu ft. scuba tank ( 80 cu. ft. at 3000 psi ) is only 37.5 psi per  cu. ft.. ) you will get a bunch of fills off a 80 cu ft tank before you need to refill the tank .  I have a custom PCP that takes 1800 psi. per fill and I have a pair of low pressure 72 cu. ft.  steel tanks at 2250 psi and I have taken out over 10 fills and the pressure one of the tanks has only gone down to 2000 psi .I could get 10 more fills and  still go diving on the remainder and get about 1 hr. bottom time at 60 ft. depth. You need to be looking at cu ft the tank holds and what you need in cu inches per fill. If you know how many cu inches your gun needs for a fill and convert the cu. ft. in the tank to cu. inches . with a little division  you will know how many fills you get before your tank gets low enough to be refilled.  Howie
