Beat up old HW95k

Been a long time since I posted , but I made some bad trades and ended up with a couple of not so good rifles ,which steered me towards only shooting my HW45 pistol! But my local dealer took my Gamo made BSA Meteor and Hatsan built Webley Valuemax in trade for this well used but smooth 0.22 HW95k.It`s previous owner never so much as wiped it down with an oily rag ,so there is  fine pitting ,dings and scratches all over it, but it is a genuine tack-driver and I don`t have to worry about damaging it !!.................it`s good to be back in the Weihrauch fold again!

Joe;- I live in a country were the current weather is 14c/57f, cloudy and looking to rain  (in the middle of June!!!), so a sense of humour is really all we got to keep us goin` (along with the occasional whisky...well it keeps you warm!)

All that stuff is "patina". Not that hard to reblue but i'd just keep it oiled and shoot the *(&^ out of it.

A few months back I met an old Scottish salty dog that is one of the best people I have met!!
He is from Shotts......home of the world's greatest pipe band.....his words not mine!!!
He also likes an occasional wee sip of something with a bite!!

Hi Kenny! Sounds like a job for some oil, and a nice brass-bristle toothbrush. You can follow-up with oil and four-ought (0000) steel wool, to get at it even more. Then Flitz polish, and re-coat with your favorite protectant. If you've not done so alreay, you may wanna pull the whole action from the stock to get at what can't been seen under there.  Good to get a good coat of paste wax on the unfinished, unprotected part of the wood, too.

Thanks for all you kind comments; I like the word "patina" a lot  , I`ll just keep it oiled up and maybe I`ll strip back the stock and steam out some of those dents (and then again ,maybe I won`t!..cos it is what it is!)

p.s Joe I agree with you about your lanarkshire friend;- Shotts is about a 1 hour drive from where I am;-back in the day, Lanarkshire was built on coal-mining/heavy industry and they are the true "salt of the earth" folk
