It must have come from a fairly dry area. The Copperheads in the low swampy areas are not so vivid in color. As a previous post noted, there seems to be a higher percentage of snake bites from Copperheads as of late.
A good friend's mother was recently bite twice on the leg by one while she was taking out the trash. I nailed two Water Moccasins last month here in Southern LA. Unfortunately my shots were not so clean.
