Thoughts on replacing pump tube with a preasure tube to convert to a pcp. I would think that a good seal at valve would be only problem. Re attach barrel with jb weld for better seal, maybe o ring in front of barrel. Any ideas on tube size. I would think basic mods as shimming hammer, polishing trigger parts would work also.   Iron Hand

I'm not at all familiar with the 880 and it's construction.... but any PCP conversion must look at the safety of ALL the parts.... A recent conversion of (IIRC) a 2100 resulted in the bolt carrier / receiver disintegrating from the higher forces involved....

In any such conversion, it is important to look at everything, not just the tube and valve....

The safety considerations are paramount for sure, but also bear in mind the trigger and valve would have to be completely redone as well.  It is a dump valve design; nothing to close it after the shot.

A QB79 or a Crosman 2240 are better starting points for an inexpensive PCP.

X2^. add to that the 880 internals are no more than cast aluminum. you're asking for trouble. I'd forget the whole idea.

IIRC the 880 has a cast zinc valve not up to much pressure, you might be able to make it an ACP by drilling to add  external volume to it...

As much as I love the 880, I would never try to turn one into a pcp.  Maybe, build a PCP from the ground up and dress it up like an 880, just purely because of all the great memories guns like the good old 880 have provided to us.

Thanks for all of the sound advice. It was just one of those ideas that came to me and if you don,t ask a stupid question once in a while theres no adventure in it. Had a long day at work sorry for replying so late. How about the 2100 conversions.  Iron Hand

  The build Bob misspeaks about, is my 2200.   The only damage was the .025" thin plastic bolt.  The locking/cocking handle and the receiver are in perfect shape.   The new bolt is made of steel due to my lack of aluminum welding equipment.   My 2100 PCP conversion throws 9.8gr Winchester domes ~1000 fps and has taken several ground squirrels at the local paintball field.  It likes a starting fill of ~4200 psi.   All the tubing I'm using is 4130 cond N, and I make sure to get the test report for the tube.

My apologies, I though the 2100 and 2200 shared most parts.... All I remember was a photo of shredded parts which would give me pause, were it my project.... I was trying to make the point that ALL parts have to be safe, not just some....

     I think the hardest part to overcome with the 880 is the "dump valve" design.  You would literally have to start over with not only a whole new valve and tube, you'd probably have to come up with a whole new setup for the bolt, trigger, etc. and by the time you finished, you'd have a completely different gun. Makes me wonder what type of setup they put into the Avanti CO2 guns.  I bet one of those cn be converted to work at least with a 1500 psi fill fairly easily.  The valves in the Crosman guns are more readily converted.
