1) LDC's can be removed as they are be threaded on; the ones Baxter makes use CFT and are lightweight.  All PCP's are easier to handle with shorter barrels, all things considered.
However, in many jurisdictions, removeable LDC's are illegal
2) QE's are NOT considered illegal as they are permanently attached to the barrel.  However, because of their length, they look clumsy, make the gun more difficult to handle they may be considered less user friendly?

Also, a well made LDC is quieter than a Hatsan QE.

 If I had known that I wouldn't  have had a shroud fitted to my Galatian. Its much quieter but for some reason it has lost accuracy and 6 fpe since then.

Hey Straightup,
Did you get Hatsan's QE attachment barrel/shroud?  If yes, I hope they kept the same LW barrel?

I de-tuned my Galatian (.177) by plugging 5 of 6 valve holes and adjusting/loosening the hammer spring.  This change alone quieted the gun substantially.  In stock form the gun was SO Loud it hurt my ears to shoot, now with only a Hatsan, air stripper or OEM end piece, it's pretty quiet.  I have made 5 LDC's for my gun's so far, taming the loudest ones first, but the de-tuned Galatian doesn't need one - yet.











PS: The Galatian is ported to be a powerful .25 cal. gun, that's why it's so loud.  Also, to cut costs, Hatsan's valves use a "6 holes configuration w/groove" set-up to speed manufacturing (one of the valve hole always lines up close to the transfer port, if not perfectly, the groove allows more room for error). 
No matter What, I would plug 5 of 6 holes for efficiency alone.  After all, the noise you hear is only air being wasted by excessively, wide open air flow.

My humble apologies, the LW barrel is not standard on the Galatian.  So I'm sure your not going to get one with a QE conversion unless they are available and you pay more. 
A video I watched showed "LW barrel" written on the side of the barrel of a Hatsan Galatian, so they are available, contact HatsanUSA to inquire.  I know there available abroad.

A detune will help sound out greatly.
A power tune on bt65 25 cal will make stock sound like a QE. Mine with ldc off sounds like a 30-30 or 12guage.
My bt65 22cal with detune, reg and ldc is quite.
My 40cal glock 22 that came in today is only gun I have right now louder than my bt65 25 cal - ldc.
Maybe it's just so close to my ears.

 Sorry for my late reply.
 Hatsan fitted the shroud over the original barrel. Works as far as sound deadening goes but my groups are 4" at 46 yards and the fps is less than before the shroud. Even my cheapo Silent Cat does half that sized groups. Can't understand why a shroud should make any difference. Maybe being a newbie to PCP's its something I did.........

The QE attachment in some way is either clipping your pellets or there is something else wrong with the gun creating power loss and inaccuracy?  This is an unregulated gun - Right?
If your not comfortable trying to adjust things yourself, send it back the HatsanUSA and let them solve the problem.
Questions:
- Do you have a chronograph?  If yes, what were the before and after velocities from the gun?
- What does the barrel crown look like?
- Has the bore been scrubbed since the QE was added?
- What pellets are you using?
- What scope are you using?
- What PSI are you shooting at?

My Galatian had such a command over the pellets it would be pretty obvious if they were being clipped be the QE.
Since you are losing 6 FPE, there could be are multiple issues going on at once?  You need to separate them.

It would be nice to know who makes the OEM barrel for the Galatian.  It seems to be manufactured differently than the barrel's on my two AT44's (i.e. > it's better).

 I cleaned the barrel when I bought it and after returning from Hatsan using a rod and cotton swab.
 I bought it new about 6 months ago and it averaged 1035 fps then with CPHP.
 This is the shot string now with the same CPHP. Starting at 180 bar.

  I can't see the crown because its covered by the shroud and taking it off would void the warranty - maybe.
 JSB's 25.4gn gives the best accuracy - still not good. Pressure 180-100 bar and scope is a new UTG 4-12x44.
 There is a choke point at the muzzle and at half along the barrel - hard to get the rod through.

Hey Straightup,
For some reason I thought you had a .177 caliber?
Anyway, your unregulated gun should not be that erratic; your shot string (velocity) is all over the place!  Your shooting too hot - go for a 900 fps to 950 fps velocity.  Also, you should not have two choke points in your barrel, just one near the muzzle.
Try to run some patches of JB Bore Paste to help smooth out the barrel.  I have used up to 400 grit paste with a jag to smooth out rust or obstructions.  Not too many passes, just enough.

Question:
Did the barrel have two choke points before you sent it to HatsanUSA for the QE?

Taking off shroud will not void warranty.
Re crowning barrel will tho.
If your running a 177-22 cal on bt65 or galatain you need a reg.
I really don't think hatsan should have put out the 177 cal in bt65 without a reg.

 I could be wrong but it looks like corrosion in the barrel - hard to see because of the shroud. I thought all barrel linings were either stainless steel or chrome - can't rust.
 BTW it is a .22 cal.

Ron for a .22cal the speeds should be 900fps and under.......Use JSB or Air Arms 18grpllets

This is the case for my 22 cal.  Even at 915 fps I was getting 2 out of 10 pellets twirling.  Not the crazy spiraling but the skirts were wig wagging.  It didn't affect accuracy 60 yards and under but by the time it got to 85 yards they were spread out.

There is so much to learn about shooting long distances with an air gun.  My first 6 months were a test of frustrations until I slowly learned what I was doing wrong and it was not the gun's short comings.  I thought, "I'm doing one hole groups at 25 yards so just extend the range and adjust holdover and it should be the same".  Wrong.  I had to learn about scope parallax errors, scope not set-up correctly, and I was unknowingly canting the gun.  You have to realize, 100 yards in air gun distance is about 900 yards in firearms distances so any little error will have the pellet off target.   Don't get me wrong, i'm a looooong way from some of the great shooters I see on the web, but the more I understand what I'm doing, the better I'm getting.
