Is the log on proceedure that I just went through

the new normal??   Talk about jumping through hoops.   Did I miss the memo regarding this new feature?  And what is its purpose?  To confuse old men?

Bogey  I understand its a pain but we have recentley went through some security issures on the forum, it is acturally for your own good to help keep some of the hackers out we have had recentley who were trying to steal members passwords.  Its shame some one would do such but it happens everyday.   I did make a post pertaining to this in the announcement gate.   http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php/topic,9073.0.html            Thanks David

For those not familiar with internet bots, these are programs that hackers crank up that will automatically and continually try to crack websites. Once they crack into a site, they attempt to steal whatever they can to either get money or to just reak havoc. We added an extra step that a bot cannot (at this time) decypher and exploit. Sorry if it adds an extra step but as David says, it's a needed step to add a layer of protection for GTA and it's members.

lol   i am permantently logged in i havent had to log in only 2 times since the NEW gta started back up

Same here !  

Yeah it's a pain and I can understand having to go through all that, but .....
 even after all that, no matter how carefully I go throught the whole process, half the time it says there was an "error", then to click where it says "back" and do it all over again.

It'd be less of a pain if it worked each time !

I thought it was great fun.  I love moving sliders back and forth.  Makes me fee like I'm really doing something.

But really,,,,I'd never seen the sliders before and I MUCH PREFER them to those darned goofy looking letters that are so common.  Now those letters are hard I think, plus they take more time.   Sliders are MUCH easier

People want to hack into the GTA?    I don't know if we should be P.O.ed   or flattered.   We must be more important than we know.
Hopefully the new proceedures will be effective.
I know it gives me a fit, what with the bi-focals and all.  And the poor coordination.  And short attention span. And..........

I can't log in at all with two other browsers I sometimes use.  I tried multiple times as the letter said.  There does not seem to be any provision for password recovery in place.  My original password seems to have been lost or scrambled on the server.  I can't even change to my new e-mail address since it will not accept my password to make the change.  Only reason I can do this is that I had not logged out from my previous visit. 

I can't find any link to contact a moderator for a password reset. 

Somebody, please help ASAP.

My only current alternative is to re-register with a new name, which I do not want to do.

Well, I just managed to log in with one of the different browsers.  The password and profiles must have quite a time delay in accepting the changes!  They sure did not work for about 30 minutes.

I don't mind the little visuals as that is easier than trying to figure out some of those weird scrambled letters things!  I had one the other day that was so warped and bent that I could not figure it out.  Got them to reset the image 4 times before I got one I could decipher. Even my wife could not figure out some of those letters and she is a trained proofreader!

When logging in now a new data base of known bad IP's and bad boys is being used as well. This for our security here.  Some people just love trying to ruin a good thing but we will do what we can to block the bad ones.
