Good Deal to be had on a Titan .22 cal today only $84.99 . I bought one I figured at that price I can't go wrong.

I picked one up too. I'll probably tear it down, deburr, lube and reseal and give it to my dad.

I'm going to tear mine down too and make stock, debur and barrel washer changes on mine when it gets here. I assume most use a flex ball style hone on the cyl ID, any idea what grit(s) and Dia they use? When i did my B3 years ago a normal solid brake hone had a big issue with the cocking slit.

I sure would have liked to have met ya'll at Daveshoot's as I'm going to be making barrel washers and whatnot for mine we could have compared notes.

So I got the rifle today. So the first thing I do is cock it to see how it feels.
Then holding the barrel I try the trigger. "dang" this trigger not worthy I think as I pull harder. Then nothing happens. The "dang" trigger doesn't release. I don't look forward to taking this out of the stock and try to disengage the trigger with the gun cocked.
I think I'll plug the breech with a kneaded eraser and point it towards a backstop while working rather than risk a bear trap and bent barrel from a slip.
Aside from that, the finish looks good and the barrel locks up good and tight.

Spoke to soon, the rifle seems pristine *but* the Chrony is saying I'm barley getting 500fps with Peak 13.8g(very tight) and 525 fps JSB 14.35. exacts. As a quick reality check I tried my low velocity Titan and its at + 600fps with the same pellets. Anyone with any gas spring ideas?. Breach seal looks fine, a strip of tp on top shows no activity when fired.

It is noticeably stiffer to cock than my weaker gas spring version, I'm thinking bad piston seal?

That would be my guess. Try a drop of silicone lube in the chamber and work the lube onto the piston. I'm planning on making a crosman order and just waiting to tear this one down before I call it in. Yours doesn't happen to be remanufactured by "RJ" and inspected by J Campbell at Airgun depot too?

I just tore it down, the piston is rather hard and had tears where it cleared the burs on the cut outs. Stupid question time, how do you get the seal off the piston? I suspect its a reverse taper and has to be flexed/worked on as there is no discernible threaded portion to remove.

The base of the gas spring shows a sharp wear line where the bur on the back bucket has dug in due to canting.

Yeah, same folk, I suspect the cast of characters who touch these is small. Mine shot and felt fin, had I not the chrony I would have not have been able to tell. Truth is I bought this one to tear it down so its not really an issue unless the gas spring is caput.

I already orderd piston seals, they came up for the gal when I asked for them by part number but she could find no trace of the part #'s for other components. She was unaware of the Titan and had never had requests for parts.

The barrel has a shoulder screw that uses a taper on the head of the screw to pressure the fork tight. The plastic washers however already show wear and or are a bit rough, will be a little project for the mini lathe.

I took it out of the stock and it fired. put the stock back on and the trigger works again. do I ned a compressor to take it apart? mine chronied it at 745 fps w/ premiers.

Mine had roughly 1/2" of compression, I unscrewed the threaded bottom plug and nocked the pin free. Since I had it in the compressor I'm not sure how much tension is in that last bit.

Discovered that the trigger is fine. There's an anti-bear trap mechanism that prevents the trigger from being pulled when cocked.
That makes decocking the rifle impossible.

Yeah the action/linkage looks like my Gamo 440 for sure. Since the order for the piston seals from Crosman was by phone I'm not sure when they will be coming in, hopefully soon. Before I tore the refurb apart I noticed the trigger was much smother than my previous one, not sure of course if its from prior break in or just the vagaries of mass production.

I received mine last night and I rushed to put the scope on. The scope had a small nick in it but seems ok. I sighted it in to 20 yard.. Max distance in backyard. Came home today and there were crows everywhere. Well Titan 4 Crows Zero.. Nice shooter. I will have to put it on the chrono later on this week.

I received mine today. Everything looked pristine on initial exam. There weren't any dings or other indications of use to be found anywhere. I ran a bore swap down the barrel and it had a lot of some type of black lube on it.

I mounted the scope. The first four or five shots were loud with a lot of smoke. But that dissipated quickly. Did a quickie zero on the scope. Using RWS Hobby I was able to get consistent POIs in only about 8 shots. I'm very impressed thus far. I don't have a chrony but it seems very consistent with my Phantom. Cocking effort also seems to be very similar to the Phantom.

I'll almost certainly refinish the Stock on it.

The finish on the stock looks like some sorta wood finish like paint rather than stain/oil, anyone have any recommendations on paint removal?

I use some Stripper by Klean Strip that I purchased from Wally World. It has worked well on three or four other stocks that I've used it on.

I've got some MinWax blue color stain I used on some oak cabinets. I may use that o begin refinishing.

Two of us that have bought the refurb's have much lower than advertised velocity by the way, mine was in the low 500's and another forum member was convinced he had the lower velocity version as it was clocking 690's. There is no reason why your rifle of course could not be making factory power but its clear on refurb velocity isn't checked too carefully or if it is the parameters are way wide.

My piston seal was damaged, and as its an incredibly simple rifle I hope the replacement seal takes care of it.

I tore it down an deburred it, but did not hone. The piston seal had several nicks and paper thin edges like casting burrs that had folded over the front edge of the seal. I cut these off with a razor blade and put it back together and velocity dropped to 720fps. I need to order some more seals and some proper lube.

I got one last Monday, it shoots 14.3 hollow points at about 730 and is very accurate. 18.1 jsb at about 675.
