Crosman 140 Assistance

My brother called me last week while hitting a couple of flea markets. He found a pretty decent complete Crosman 140 for $20.00 so I told him to pick it up for me. Of course it was not holding air.

I tore it down today and played holy *(&^ getting the small plastic tubular bushing removed at the breach. This is the bushing that stumps a lot of folks because the breach screw runs through it. This busing has to be removed or the breach plug will not come out. I finally had to destroy it to get it out. One of those things because I played nice for over an hour.

With that said, does anyone have any suggestion for a replacement. I recon I need a replacement and every seal kit I've seen is absent of this bushing. Any help is appreciated!

Hi John,

I cant remember if the Crosman 1400 reseal kit I got from Mac1 included that bushing? The flat top piston in the Mac1 kit is a really nice upgrade if you need more than that bushing to fix it. I've rebuilt a Crosman 1300 and a 1400 and I know which part you need and I don't know of a hardware store part or product that will replace it. I would contact Tim or Dennis Baker. I'm sure one of them will have that part and shipping should be cheap.

Hey john, im in the same predicament you are in. Just bought a junker off of Jim Evans on AA classifieds.  Except i dont have that bushing. I read about it, but to my surprise i didnt have one. What is the purpose of that bushing? Also do you know what the threading is for that screw? Picture next to the cap for pellgunoil

Perfect timing i just got off the phone with Tim Murray, my 312 is done, i asked him about the breech screw and bushing. He said he gets rid oh that bushing replaces screw with a shorter one and uses a small lock ring. Thread is 8-32
