5 min cowbird shoot

Took a look out the window to find three cowbirds eating my grass seed. I hate shooting things I don't eat but grass seed is expensive.  Three shots three down. No movements from a single bird. Shots all around 40 yards give or take.

I did a lot of searching and found no laws against shooting them in Alabama. If you have more information or ANY information stating otherwise I would love to read it. As a hunter I do not want to break any laws or threaten any species.

From what I see in Alabama if they are a causing a problem ( crops, livestock, shrubs etc. ) you can take them out. We just like to keep you guys safe.

I understand and appreciate it. In fact that's part of why I love this community so much. In my studies I found them listed as least concern on the conservation scale and can be considered pests due to property damage and parasite brooding behavior. Thank you guys for watching out for us.

Nice shooting. The laws on birds are muddy when you look at what some states say and what the feds say. Here in MT they dont care if you shoot every magpie you see even if they are not causing problems. MT does not regulate them at all but if a federal official sees it they can fine you for it if the magpie is not causing problems because they are protected under federal laws. It seems you see allot of that kind of difference of opinion between state laws and federal laws concerning different species of birds. I just view magpies as always causing trouble

Thanks everyone. And yes mike they are small. I've spent all weekend getting the bt65 zeroed and finding my mildot ranges. Put about 100 shots threw and lots of pumping. I see a tank in the near future. Lol.
