What do you think would be a fair price to pay for a (used) 34 Classic with wood stock in excellent condition cosmetically (although I have not been able to test-fire it)?

Also, how do I identify which trigger this rifle has? It is not stamped into the top of the receiver tube like on my 350... does that mean it may be a T01 trigger?

I just contacted the seller. He claims he purchased it new in 2001 and only had it out once running less than a few dozen pellets through it. He lives on the outskirts of a city where he is not allowed to shoot in his own yard which is reason for lack of use and reason for sale.

He's asking $180, but I may have some haggle room on his asking price...

I am considering buying it as a gift for a good friend who can't really afford a decent air rifle but I think would really enjoy one

I believe 2000 was the transition year from TO1 to TO5. The TO1 had a metal safety with a kind of loop at the end. The TO5 had a plastic safety.

Value is a bit harder to define. I paid $100 for mine bit it is not pretty. Even so, I may have stolen it. It shoots fantastically well, though.

Rule of thumb is generally sixty to seventy five percent of new price for European guns, I think - depending on condition.

FWIW: During that time I believe I remember correctly they sold for $200 as a TO1 trigger. The T05 trigger added about 30.00, and then the T06 models jumped up to today's cost.

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it.

I have requested the seller to send me a close up photo showing the trigger and safety. I also inquired if there was a nearby spot I would be able to test fire it if I were to come look in person, and unfortunately they said they do not know of any place (hence the sale)... so I would have to take a gamble that it shoots well. Not sure if the savings would be worth the risk so maybe I should pass and keep looking.

Well... you can take catalogs or a phone book with you, 4" thickness or more of it will easily stop a pellet from that rifle at short indoor range. Take a piece of wood to backstop behind the paper books.
That way you can test fire it indoors to test fire it. Don't dry fire it. If he passes, then pass on...unless he makes a $100-$120.00 offer. If the pictures and shape of it looks good.

I just bought one of those. A T5 sold as a new refurb. Has the 12-land barrel from China. Not quite broken in yet, but it shoots neat little cloverleafs at 25 yards with H&N FTTs. I'd buy it all over again, just my .02 .

If your read the Craigslist rules airguns are not permitted to be listed, in fact weapons aren't allowed. Many people work the ads so they aren't automatically refused. Others get reported by CL readers. Sometimes airguns are listed, but not often and not for long.

They are asking $180... I offered $120, they counter offered $150. Hmmm...

A WOOD stocked 34 in Very good shape EVEN if having a broken spring is worth 150 IMO

If that had been me, I'd paid him $200 for it. It would have to be in bad shape not to be worth that. Wish I'd found it before you have.
