I visited a friend from the rifle club a couple of months
ago who has one and got to shoot it some.
It is a shooter.
It may not be as pretty as an Anschutz or FWB but
it does shoot.
Being a Sporter rifle, it was on the light side for my preferences.
I know my friend was talking about adding some weight to it since
the matches he shoots are open class only.
If you are new to position shooting, especially
standing, the weight will be fine as is.
As far as accuracy, I highly doubt you will ever
out shoot the rifle. If you think you are even close,
it's time to take it to the nationals at Camp Perry for sure.
The rifle has been breaking ROTC national records.

These things are like kayaks and bicycles. If you buy one and
leave it hanging on the wall, it will be a waste of money.
If you use it regularly it will be money well spent.

I recall from reading that you want the 2nd version of the Challenger, it supposedly resolved many of the issues of the 1st version.
First question, what is your budget?
w/o a budget, here are some alternatives under an arbitrary $1,000 budget.
Spring (all used as they no longer make them)
- FWB-300, Diana 75, Anschutz LG380
SSP
- Daisy 953, 853, 753 (the stock shape is better on the 953 and 753)
- used match rifles from Walther, FWB, Anschutz, etc.
CO2
- TAU-200
- Daisy 887, 888 (the stock shape is better on the 887)
CA/PCP
- Air Arms S200T
There a probably a few more that I can't recall right now.
All the Daisys NEED the trigger sear to be deburred to be decent shooters.
If you want to be top competitive, you should go with SSP, CO2 or CA/PCP. While the spring has the accuracy potential, the mass movement and the time for the spring to release makes it just that much harder to shoot accurately.
Personally, I would get a used Tier-1 match rifle vs a new any thing else.
The trigger on any of the Tier-1 match rifles is really amazing.

Thanks for the replies everyone. as i don't plan on getting into competition shooting i guess i don't "need" as much as just want a new indoor gun. my 1377 is already more accurate then me it shoots great from a bench..lol. I think I just need more practice shooting standing off hand. I start off OK but the more i have to pump and shoot the shakier i get. that is the reason i was looking at the challenger. no pumping. I'm just not sure how much money i want to spend. as soon as it warms up I would much rather be outside shootin longer distances (and already have the gun for that). When I'm home i can shoot out the window in the winter, but i travel for work and never know if I'll be able to shoot outside where I'm at. the job I'm on now i have a corp. apt...so no outdoor shooting.
