Recently I've seen ads for a "new" reality show. I may be wrong but I believe the show's name is "Large". A show about the morbidly obese attempts to loose weight, find love and all that jazz. A featured character is a woman whose complaints are as follows, 1. she weighs 440 lbs. 2. she is 44 years old. 3. she is a Virgin.
Now, knowing ladies as I do, her main complaint is that she is 44 years of age and is most likely fibbing about that.
And being a Virgin at 44? Well it's never too late I suppose but what took her so long to get busy thinking about sex?
And being 440 lbs, well if she could have sex at that weight and reverse her age , does anyone think she would care if she lost a single ounce?
Now I know how hard it is to control your eating habits. And I'am not a totally heartless creature, close but not totally. But I'm a little weary of these types of shows.
I wish her well in her attempt to turn her life around. It won't be easy and backsliding is the real reality.

I'm just glad I grew up in the era of shows like The Twilight Zone. Today's reality "shows" are pathetic by comparison. I tried to watch Survivor. On that particular episode they gave the contestants a fire making kit with instructions. No one start a blaze. Small wonder because the instructions were dead wrong (it used a bow stick). They could be sitting there until h3ll froze over before they would see any smoke. Decided that show is more or less rigged. The over-weight, cooking, cast iron chef, house cleaning, remodeling, greedy house flipping (yeah, right, in today's tight credit/real estate markets), bachelor/bachelorette, too many kids, not enough kids, next top [model, singer, dancer, designer, you-name-it] shows are poor substitutes for entertainment. They are cheap, no writers, no highly paid actors and that's why the networks love them. For me,they all fall into the "I could give a rat's patootie" category. Me, I'll stick to re-runs of Gilligan's Island, the next Masterpiece Theater of commercial television.

ps - And don't exclude shows like "Pawn Stars" or "Pickers". The first has got to be a set up. How many pawn shop guys know fine details like "the binding of this book is Irish linen with a left hand cross-stitch only used in Tazmania about 1857", etc. O-K...... And the golden trash in Pickers is enough to make you laugh. "Rusted out Coca-Cola sign. $75.... Resale $300....Profit $225!" I joked with a couple of ladies in a local antique market about that show and they just started laughing, especially when I said they couldn't possibly be working here since neither one sported more tattoos than a Maori native (or NFL lineman, take yer choice).

Have to agree, RF, especially about "Twilight Zone."
In fact, I have the entire five seasons of that great show on DVD.
These so called "reality" shows are a total sham.
Put a camera on people, and even without a script, they're no longer just being themselves; they're acting.

OldPink, I think we are just too old to appreciate them. Put us on drugs and they just might be highly entertaining. Like those jokes that sounded so darn funny after six or eight beers. :-)

Watching that stuff is voluntary, - those type of shows are why the good Lord invented the "Off Button". - In so far as being a virgin at 44, and weighing nearly a quarter of a ton, - I'd certainly like to help, but that's "above & (far) beyond" the call of duty.

The only "Reality" show that I watched completely was "Boot Camp"....don`t know if any of you guys remember it (I think it was 1 year after "Survivor" came out). Bunch of regular folks training for the Army/Marine. Same routine as "Survivor"....at the end of each show the contestants get to vote a "Grunt" out.

I was SO disappointed at the end...only a gal and a guy left....they had to do the course (Map and compass reading, crawling in the mud under "Barbed" wires, kayak, rope climb up and down and across etc.)....and the previously voted off contestants get to vote who wins. GUESS WHAT... the gal wins even though she lost in 7 or was it 8 out of 8 of those courses. The REASON: The other grunts say she is a better leader.

Only reason I watched it was it was on after mid-night....and we had the t.v on while we were cleaning up. So were we watching and cleaning up with no customers bothering us.

That was the only and last "Reality" show I ever watched.

The only reality show I think is worth something - and even then, its' just about watching some very tough guys earn their living - is "Deadliest Catch."
It's a miracle those guys can even walk, their nards must be so gigantic to do what they do.

I don't know Guys,

But I watch "Reality Shows" every day, and find them fascinating !

The GTA is by far the BEST Reality Show around !

The lives and tribulations of addicted air gun shooters

Working hard to find and own the ultimate air gun

The fellow members Modding and adding "BLING" to their babies is fascinating to say the least !

And then there are the fellows that want to make 400 yard shots with their air guns and take out Wild Bore ?

But all in all, it fun to watch, and gives me ideas too LOL

i have one "reality" show i watch...ever since i was 9 or 10 i love to watch "cops". the first and longest running "reality" show in America. its so bad, but i just can't help myself!

Hey, man, we is talking about NEW shows. That one's been on the porn channels for ages. But don't worry. I have sent the major networks a pilot that I am sure will take the new season by storm. No actors, no scripts....just a can of paint, a brush and a wall.
