NP2 Made in America or assembled in USA?

Ordering some parts yesterday and was speaking to a CS agent.  He said the new guns were 100% made in America.  What do you guys know about this?

I have been following this gun from the beginning. At first some parts from the Far East, some made in the good old U.S. of A. Completely assembled here. After the first batch of sub-standard parts from over "there", they may have decided to manufacture all of the parts here. I know mine is a really good piece of work. Fit and finish, power and accuracy are all above par. I still had to replace the washers and a lighter trigger spring, but nothing else. With CPHP 14.3 I get 835 fps. JSB 18, 730. Both above 21 fpe.

Be a MAJOR change in "Way things get done" to actually be MANUFACTURED in the USA.
Would be only an educated guess that given all the required parts in bins being ASSEMBLED in the USA would for those defining the "MADE" badging to be valid enough for marketing sake.

like the other poster above me said after they had some rails fall off the initial batch of guns they got those back and source parts made 100% in the USA according to the rep I spoke to. the parts are supposedly made in the USA and the guns assembled in the USA as well that being the big marketing push for the Np2.

I also asked about plans for an XL version of the NP2 and the rep I spoke to was also interested in this and spoke to the people over that the design team whatever he said and there unofficial statement was that there were no plans for an XL version of the NP2.

With my np xl .22 I get the most fpe from the pellets I have chronied, from 14.3 gr CP.  I average 915 fps and 26 fpe. With the TS-22 22 gr from Gamo, I averaged 711 fps and 24.5 fpe. I also tested Stoeger X-Speeds which group well and averaged 1042 fps for a 24 fpe as well. 

I like that the NP2 is very close to this. Could someone with an Np2 get measurements of the piston and compression tube for me?

I have the NP2 with wood stock and it is my favorite of all of my guns to shoot.  I have brownings, marlins, Winchesters mossburgs and this one is just plain fun.  It is also accurate as heck.  I have probably 300 shots down the barrel and it is starting to settle in nicely.  I cleaned the barrel with simple green spray and it is now a tack driver and getting better each outing.  The power is noticeably greater than my Benjamin genesis.  I opted for the upgraded scope and like it as well.  This finish is pretty good on mine but I would like to have crosman use metal instead of plastic on the barrel shroud and trigger guard.  Overall this is a really nice air rifle and my nephews are saving up their pennies to get themselves one for this fall's squirrel camp!

I got to hold an NP2 with synthetic stock in my hand, .22, and try the cocking weight. It was so light I couldn't believe it. The compression chamber was bigger than that of a Titan GP that was also next to it but they didn't have a Trail XL for me to compare with. My gut is telling me that the NP2 has a bigger chamber than the NP but smaller than the XL.

I am very tempted to buy one. The one at the store was 209.99 and it was Academy sports I think. I almost can't help myself. I am about to purchase my first PCP, a big bore, and that money could go towards a scope instead....I have a modified/customized Titan GP in .22 and a trail XL with both .22 and .25 barrels for it.

I have an extra spring from my Trail XL and I would love to see if it would fit in the NP2. I couldn't get the Titan to cock with the XL spring inside. The body of the gas spring is too long to allow the sear to contact the piston. Maybe it would fit in an NP2 and it would still cock. I suppose I could buy the rifle and try it and if it doesn't work just return the rifle.

Well, I  saw one at Academy Sports and Outdoors. It was the only one on the shelf and it was open and had the same CP 3-9x 40mm AO scope in the box that came with my trail XL, not the non-AO it is supposed to have. I am guessing since the box was open, someone looking at the guns put the wrong scope back in the box, but score for me! It is the synthetic black stock,  .22.

The thing I like best about this gun is that when I put the scope on, the first shot @ 10 yds was on paper and just a little low.  I mechanically centered my CP 4-16 x 40 AO IR adventure class scope, took it off my XL (the droop is so bad I have a single turret turn, 14 MOA, of adjustment left after 0), put it on the NP2, shot a few, they hit paper but it was getting dark. I'll shoot it some this evening and report. My point is that there is very little barrel droop compared to my other first gen NP guns.

My Titan GP barrel droop is so bad that I cannot 0 the scope at all. I'm  building a barrel bender this weekend, gonna nip that in the bud.

I am really liking the smoothness of the gun. The gun had no manual and the one available online doesn't work.  How many shots is recommended for break in?  I  have about 100 down it so far.

It's the company , -and what they ship out -and how they stand behind their product.

Crossman employs 20 full time employees assembling NP2s. I am interested in where they are made because jobs for Americans are important to me, not because I think Chinese hands make an inferior product,  my wife is Chinese (she is an LPR came here in 2008 for college) and my son is half Chinese. 

Not to mention having them assembled here let's crossman have more stringent quality control.

Would you prefer someone assemble a gun with pride or have it thrown together by people that could care less doing the least they can and get by it. I'm pretty much done with guns made in China. I'm tired of polishing turds.

I picked up a second CPA416AORG2 scope at Walmart yesterday for the NP2. I mounted it but have not had a chance to 0 it yet.  It's been raining non-stop here in Atlanta for a week and it was dark when I got home.

I have to pick up another set of brass washers to replace the nylon shims, they are nylon right? I have not opened it up to clean it like usual because I wanted to see what it was like straight out of the box.

My wife's Chinese too ; and as for the pride of an American worker -thats debatable . Too many are overtired , stoned or drunk , lazy or dis-interested . The American worker is no longer the best in the world - in fact they never were . They get paid too much and are too "dang" fat and lazy .  I like the idea of Americans having jobs - but lets not forget , some 42 million are on food stamps and welfare ...... Over 96 % of Chinese people are working .  90 % of the stuff  you buy is shipped here from China -

  What I was talking about was Crossman. They have 20 or so people doing assembly on the NP2. I would like to think these people at least shoot or have shot airguns. That they would take a little more care to make sure metal shavings and such are not left in the cylinder and seals are not ruined when installed.

The tagline for this picture is "Fake designer boots are churned out by children in Chinese sweatshops."  There are a couple of reasons to support American manufacturing there. 
Sure, $ per $ the Chinese can turn out a better product.  But at what cost?  Lots of Chinese workers are overtired too, because they are sometimes worked to death (literally in some cases), with few of the benefits we take for granted.  Then there are the QC issues that cost the consumer.  Scope mounts falling off of airguns.  Lead poisoning in children's toys.  Excessive chemical emissions in drywall.  Etc, etc.

China must basically have a slave workforce; they can make a cement flowerpot , truck it to the shipping dock ,send it here on a ship across the ocean ,off load it from the ship , truck it to the store - AND STILL UNDER CUT the price of the cheapest American made one you can find !
 Take the 5X8 mm 2.5 mm RC bearing that you buy here to modify the gritty Crosman triggers : cheepest I could find from American sources was about 4$ for two postpaid .

Shaun...I have a 22 Cal. Crosman Summit Ranger NP2 Rifle.   I really like this gun.   It Hits Hard and is Very Accurate. 
It is a Perfect Year-Round All-Weather Hunting Gun.    It is my go-to rifle for small game hunting.






One of my grandsons... Gabriel... is 1/2 Ethiopian.   

My Nephew's Daughters are 1/2 Lakota Sioux.   

My second son's wife if from Columbia.

My Oldest Brother's Son's wife is from Argentina

Oh and Yes...The Manufacturing Job that I had for 24 years went to China in 2002.  I certainly Don't Hold That Against the Chinese.  They need jobs too... JUST Like Me.

Have you ever checked out Harbor Freight?  It seems NOBODY touches their prices but if you buy the tools and equipment at a hardware store their products are made in China as well.

I don't think it's just the cost of manufacture and shipping.  Greed and marketing enter somewhere, too.

I love their stuff! I have a basement/garage full of HF hand and power tools, and have yet to be disappointed in any of them. Why pay top dollar for brand name tools, I only need to use a few times a year? Matter of fact, I just picked up a cordless reciprocating saw there yesterday for less than $40. Its going to be super easy keeping the backyard shooting range clear of overgrowing foliage this year.

In regards to NP2 rifles, I have 2, and I absolutely love them!
