They are fantastic dogs. The biggest problem you will have is that they are naturally suspicious and people tend to fear them for no reason. That often results in the dog barking and some person getting upset because the dog did exactly what it is bred to do. When someone is afraid of them, that person will act "hinky". The dog will pick up on it instantly. He thinks anyone who is acting like they are afraid of him, probably has a reason to be acting that way. He will bark at them and even snap at them if they approach him acting like that.We live in the country and Derby knows who lives in the area. He tells all strangers that they are on his turf and will hold them wherever he finds them until someone from the neighborhood comes out of their house and tells him it is ok. The neighbors love him.Best thing for that little hero is to encourage him to play with little kids, strangers, and other dogs while he is small. He will grow into a fine dog that is easy to manage in social situations and if you are interested in doing bite work he will be more easily controlled when he is working in large groups of strangers.Socialization! Socialization! Socialization!Good looking pup for sure.
