knives. Quality or junk? I have a lot of knives. Gerber, Kershaw, CRKT, Boker,SOG, and Schrade, maybe a few others. I like the looks of some of the S&W tactcal knives, but I don't know if the are quality or junk with a good name. I trust and would like your oppinions. Thanks.

Yeah, pretty generic stuff.
You get what you pay for.
Definitely better off with Schrade, Gerber, Case, Buck, especially the last two.
The flagship Buck knives (110, Caper, Omni) are still made here, but some of their smaller ones are made in China.
ALL Case knives are still proudly made here.

S&W knives are chinese made and average quality. I have a black tanto half serrated folder that I carry at work. It takes a beating! The screws loosen up over time. Especially the pocket clip. It takes an edge like nobody's business though!

Dealextreme.com has ALLOT of knives exactly like S&W's, Remington's and Winchester without their logo for half the price. I get a few every year to hand out as Christmas or Birthday presents.

S&W are just ok, as said above if you want a real quality made in the US knife get a Case or Buck.  I prefer case knives, mostly since they offer the majority of them without a pocket clip, I am old school and prefer my pocket knives to remain unseen in my pocket.  I have had 2 S&W knives and was not very impressed.

un a only slightly related note....

My Kids cubscout troop earned thier whittleing badge here recently.... the scoutmaster contacted Schrade, Gerber, Case, Buck,CRKT, Benchmade, and Kershaw to see if any of them would give the scouts a small discount on a group buy for their first "real" pocket knife and not a SINGLE company except for Kershaw even botherd to respond to him..... I mean come on... He was NOT asking for anything free just a small group discount on the purchase..... what happend to the days of companies doing small things for our kids!?!?!?! especialy the AMERICAN owned companies!!!  We where talking about it and I honestly kinda took it as a slap in the face from these companies... not even a response

Oh and Kershaw.... yea they responded..... and asked where to send a case of knifes too..... no monies not even shipping.... they have earned a customer for life and I will never buy a knife from any of those other companies as long as I live!!!(its a shame too because I love the Gerber Easy out series.... inexpensive and good blade for the money...)

BTW.... our troop took a big group photo of the kids with their new Kershaws and everyone wrote thank you letters and mailed it.... I hope they will hang it up somewhere with pride because they definatly deserve it!!!!

Thats nice to hear about Kershaw.I bought a model called Needs work. Liked it so much I bought 4 more.[kept giving them to close friends and family] Then I found a "blem" of that model. My son took it and his friend snapped the tip off trying to adjust the front sight on an M4. I was talking to my Snap-on guy about it and he said he would send it in and see. I told him blems have no warranty.[there were 3-4 small x's on the blade designating it a blem]

Well, he sent it in and in a couple of weeks I either got a new blade or knife, I never found out, but there are no moe x's on the blade.

A see it wasnt/isnt so much the generousity of Kershaw it was the absolute snub off from the other companies..... they where simply asked if they offered any type of group discount or would offer a group discount to some boyscouts and they didnt even bother to respond..... THATS what really stuck in my craw.... they could have just simply said sorry we cant or dont or whatever.... is was the complete lack of response that bothered me. ESPECIALY a complete lack of response to an organization like the Boy Scouts....
