Hello Jeff, since you mentioned a Hawke Varmint and Barska Ridgeline, I did a little review between them a year ago or something. Check it out, hope it helps you a bit in making your decision.

My personal opinion goes towards the Hawke due to glass quality and brightness. Although, I like the P4 reticle more than the 10x 1/2 mil dot system. And the Barska is considerably less yet not that far behind the Hawke.

I'm about to pull the trigger on either a Barska Ridgeline 6-24x 44mm for $132
Or a BSA 6-24x 44mm that's on sale for $129

I'm thinking the BSA is a nicer scope. I'm going to buy an inexpensive scope for now and buy a nicer one at a later time. Just tired of having to walk to the target to see my groups with my fixed 4X.
It's tough to find info on the BSA since it's not on their website and it's a Midway exclusive.

For a little more the Hawke Varmint 6-24 is better scope. ($209.99 and ships for free at Midway).

I wanted to spend no more than $100...so $130 was pushing it already.
I'll probably keep this scope for a year or so and then upgrade to something like a Hawke Sidewinder or something else in the $4-600 range.
I can get one of these BSA 4-14x on ebay for $200 shipped....it's mil-mil (mil reticle/with 1/10 mil adjustments, First Focal Plane zoom, glass etched reticle). My friend has one and absolutely loves it....passed the box test multiple times. I would probably go to that scope if I decided to dip near $200.

Like I said..you can find these on ebay for $200 shipped.
