Beeman RX foot lbs

I've had this gun for about 10 or 15 years. Never did any crony work back in those days. Been getting back into air guns again and thought I'd run the RX over the crony.
I'm getting around 14 ft lbs depending on pellet weight with the lighter pellets yielding the highest.
Does any one know if this is still in the original specs for this rifle? Or does it need rebuilt?
I found info on the RX 2 and it's listed as a bit hotter.
Thank you for sharing any knowledge on this matter.

When new these gas ram rifles in .177 made about 18 to 20 fpe, depending on the pellet. It sounds like your gas spring may need to be recharged.

If you have a PCP hand pump you can recharge the spring just remove the screw cap from the rear of the action at the top edge of the stock. screw in the fill adapter and add a small amount of air. Then adjust the fps by letting out small amounts if air if shooting too hot or add additional air to increase the fps I had to remove a little air from my almost new RX2 since both cocking and shot cycle were not to my liking . It is now shooting ~ 900fps for ~20 fpe with 11.46 Beeman FPT pellets

Looks like I'll have to buy a pump after all, just not for my pcp! I (thought) I weighed all the pros and cons when going over to the dark side but guess not.
What's the name of adaptor I will need for the pump?
What weight pellet to set at what feet per second for my RX ? Is it supposed to shoot as hard as the RX-2 ?
If my RX wasn't such a tank of a gun I might leave it where it's at. It's shooting the Discovery pellets one on top the other. But has opened up with the heavier pellets. If I wanted a 14 ft lb gun I'm sure I could find a lighter one
.
Thanks a lot everyone for the help.

Check out this link...
http://ww.straightshooterschat.com/showthread.php/1911-To-all-out-there-that-have-rebuilt-an-RX2
Several pages and there is reference to a pump available on Ebay that will work. It's usually used
for mountain bike struts. See page 3.

The fill adapters are available from Rapid Air Weapons. You can order right from their site or call them up. Very nice people! Given that your RX sat around for 15 years, I would not assume that it needs a rebuild. Recharge will probably do it.

Thanks
I'm going to order that RAW fill adaptor and go from there. I have a pump that came with my BMW HP2E that goes to 25 bar.
How does that adaptor work? When you screw it onto the gun with out a hose/pump attached does it let all the air out?

Yes basically it is a screw in adaptor that depresses the valve core so without the pump attached to the fil adapter you will release all the air from the piston

So you need to be able to screw it on and off while attached to the pump?
Does it use the same treads as the srew you remove to access the valve?
How far in is the valve?
Thanks

Yes and there is an o-ring on the adaptor to seal the fill the screw also has an o ring so that if the Schrader valve is leaking you will not loose the air from the piston

So I get the adaptor, attach it to pump hose, screw adaptor into receiver quickly to seal at oring. Pump it up and then unscrew quickly so as not to loose to much?

Actually, the adapter does not release the pressure in the piston. It screws in around the pin in the Schrader. So,
1) Remove the allen bolt at the end of the breech.
2) Screw in the adapter.
3) Attach the pump and pump it up. 25 bar should be just about right.
4) Remove pump, but leave adapter attached to the rifle and test.
5) Add more pressure if necessary.
6) If the pressure is too high, remove adapter, insert punch and tap it lightly. Test and repeat if necessary.

Thank you sir,
There must be another valve in the other end of the adapter (shrader) ? I tried to find more info or pics but had no luck.
I feel I am well armed with info now thanks to you nice folks and once I have the right parts should have no trouble.
I think the pump I have screws onto a regular valve stem, will I be able to get an adapter that will connect it to the RAW adapter?
Sorry I keep asking questions but you guys are better then Wikipedia!

No problem.
There is only one valve -- the Schrader in the RX. Keep in mind that, in the pumping process, the Schrader opens and accepts air when the pump pressure is higher than the piston pressure. Just like a bicycle tire.
You'll have to check your pump. The adapter may screw directly into it. I use an adapter with the adapter because my Hill pump has a ring fitting.
Now that I think about it, I'm guessing your pump directly accepts a needle (as used for footballs, etc). I had the same set up for filling MTB shocks. The RAW adapter may, likewise, screw directly into the pump.

So the adaptor doesn't depress the Schrader valve stem? But the o ring seal at the receiver allows pressure to build up and force the valve open?
That makes a lot of sense if in fact I understand correctly now. That explains how one person was able to use a bleed off valve on there pump hose. They were only bleeding off the air on the outboard side of the valve.
Thanks very much for helping me understand (if I do
).

you might do yourself well by purchasing a pressure gauge to see where you're at. once you have the proper fitting and pump...it's a 'piece of cake'.
"GENERALLY" speaking, a heavier pellet will deliver more knock down on target.
that's a HUGE advantage the RX/HW90 has; adjustable power.

The screw on my rifle that covers the valve is slotted for a screw driver and doesn't have a rubber o ring behind it. I am positive this is the original screw that shipped new with this gun when I bought it and has never been out till today. This most likely dates my gun to the experienced RX person.
Should I just reuse or is there a upgrade? Just put a o ring under it?

Just put an oring on it and reuse. The screw simply covers the valve. It does not seal it.
