Which rifle to get?

I'm torn between the FX Royal 500 and the FX Boss. I will be selling off my two other rifles to get either one. I shoot long range, hunt fairly large critters, and everything else you'd enjoy with an airgun. The boss seems like a perfect all around gun for my needs. Any personal experiences with either one of these rifles guys?

Weight, length, and look all seem similar.  Boss appears to be .30 only while the Royale 500 is .25, yes? 

I think the boss is supposed to be an amazing benchrest gun due to the higher BC of the .30. 

Edit: Sounds like you're leaning towards the Boss already?

The FX500 is a great gun and will take game such as ground hogs, coons ,fox and other similar game. On more than one occasion I have shot the primer out of a spent shotgun shell @ 62 yards and lobbed a few pellets at a three foot by three foot target @ four hundred yards. Have not tried a Boss but I think it would be a much better long range shooter than the FX500. If you do not mind 30 cal. ammo prices then by all means I would choose the Boss.

I might go with the boss, ammo prices don't worry me much I'm used to paying more for center fire ammo. Taxes are in and time to spoil my self!

I don't know about Boss but I liked my royale 400 enough that I bought a 500 also and don't want anything else. I think they both come regulated but I would recomend a reg if not.
Synthetic stocks ain't purdy to me but yo carry hunting, that's what I would get.

If you're leaning at all toward the Boss, get it.  If you didn't, you would always be seconding guessing yourself.

For such an application, a gun that can handle solid bullets would definitely have a significant advantage. & as far as the research shows from those that have tried the FX ST barrels don't like bullets.
But if you are dead set on getting the FX, get the .30

I'd wait a few more months to see how Tom's 357 Slayer turns out.  Guys who tried his pre-production model at last weeks show are already raving about it.

Just watched a youtube vid on that gun. Holy cow!
3500 PSI fill, 400cc tube, .357 caliber around 900fps and I think 129fpe?
Shrouded and moderated. Tactical bullpup design and priced at $1900.00 - a serious hunting weapon!

Yes, but he said in an interview video the 357 Slayer is shooting 139 grain swaged boolits at a peak of 275 FPE for 6 good shots from a 3500 psi fill.

Looks like a great AG but I don't need that much power, and the amount of shots you get per fill isn't a factor I like.. the Boss I can get around 40-45 maybe 50 shots at a reasonable power level for anything really. Looks like I'll get a Boss and see how it goes!

. The Boss is a Great rifle,considered buying one myself. I'm holding out now for a regulated .30 from American Air Arms. I hunt giant Jackrabbits at long range and feel a .357 is more than I need. The regulated .30 should get around 60 shots at high power levels around 900+

The .30 cal is a great option for that kind of Hunting,....hopefully more pellets get develped in the future by more manufacturers
