Hey guys. I made a slip on cheeck piece for my air ranger a few weeks ago. It seems the comb on alot of airguns just ain't high enough to really settle your cheek on. This is a prototype that I want to get made out of rubber. Anyone have any info on how that could be done?

well you are going to need to make friends with a tool and die maker and then pay molding facility to run the mold you have made. could be very expensive. molding doesn't usually come into play until the production stage. what is the one you made made of?

Yeah ,I checked into that and it is pretty expensive. was hoping for a cheaper way....I used to do some body work on cars so i made it out of bondo cause I know how to work that stuff! Took some time but you can really get the fit just right with attention to detail.

One of the guys on GTA posted about making one out of a knee brace like you purchase at the drug store.
Amazon has a reasonably priced selection of slip ons in neoprene, I believe. They come with additional spacers you can slip inside to make them even higher.

if you made a plaster mold of yours and poured melted rubber into it, would you not have a copy in rubber ?
Just a thought with no knowledge on how that would work out.

I thought about trying to make a plaser mold and poured rubber. They make it look easy on the videos i've watched. I just have a feeling its a little more difficult than it looks......

You can make a mold out of urethane, than cast it in silicone or urethane (with mold release). You can also make the mold with plaster, but you will likely destroy it when de molding the part.
Look on the McMaster Carr website for molding/casting materials, or check out crafting or model making sites.
When casting an elastomer, it's a 2-part material like an epoxy. You can get different durometers (hard or soft). The McMaster site has a guide on selecting durometers or PM me for info.
