Center Point 4 - 16 X 40 to be mounted on a Discovery .22 = I have removed the rear sight and the scope is still touching the barrel with the mounts I have now. Do I need something like --->
https://www.pyramydair.com/product/leapers-accushot-1-rings-high-9-5-11-5mm-dovetail?a=635
?
I have never had a scope this large before and need a little help.

Jeff, I had a Bushnell 3 - 9 X 32 on the Discovery before - yes Dovetail rings. I tried using those; but I think I need another 1/16 inch or 1/8 inch taller rings for the larger 40 mm front end. How does one determine how tall/high the rings are from the specifications?

Medium height rings should do it. You need high if you go to a 50 mm objective.

I went with high rings to mount that scope on my HW97. The issue is not only objective size but also the thickness of the raised, ribbed "grippy" things for the AO, and the thickness of the flip-up caps on top of that.

Have you checked the BLK rings? I know they are a little more price wise but man I am a happy camper with the three sets I have used.
No loc-tite needed either. Very well made and impressive.

Here is the specs on the UTG medium scope rings. Measure the largest outside diameter of the bell on your scope, and divide it in half. Convert it to mm. The UTG medium scope will be 26.7mm to the center of the scope. If your scope has an outside bell diameter of 52mm or less, you will be good.

Almost enough, but it looks like I will need almost 59 mm for this scope. I will keep looking. Maybe the high rings in that same style. Thanks for the link.

Yep. Go for the High rings. I have them and they're plenty strong. Use the link and look up the High ones. If memory serves, they're like a 1/4" taller.

1/4" taller would work. That look like a keeper.
I will be getting the Leapers HIGH Rings. That should also make it a bit easier to load pellets in a hurry! Hee hee
Thanks all for the help - you make this endeavor easier.
