et me explain my situation. I have a air arms s500 22 caliber rifle. At this time I have a weaver v-24 scope on it. It works and is very accurate. By turning down power and using tip of post can shoot wine corks at 75 yards. I want a new scope !! I really like the hawke endurance scope I have on my tx200. I really do not need illumination. I like to shoot long range and precision at any range. I have been looking at the hawke tacticle scopes but cant find any pics of the reticles. In the 500 dollars range would the hawke tacticle be the best choice or is there better options. Also I like the aeon ballistic reticle, don't really want 50 mm bell though, would rather keep scope as close to barrel as possible. All suggestions would be appreciated, I am driving myself crazy over this. Thanks in advance, Don

If you go to Hawke's web site, they have pictures of their recitals. I have had 6 Hawke scopes including the sidewinders. I have 3 now. Don

I have the hawke endurance scope on the tx200. I am very satisfied with it except for the weight. It is one of the clearest scopes I have ever had. The tx with the endurance scope weighs 12 pounds. I don't really want to add this much weight to the s500. I have problems with holding steady with that much weight standing. That is why I am thinking varmint. Would the varmint also stand up to the recoil of the tx200?

I bought a hawke varmint 3-12x44, kept it for three weeks and sent it back. The good, it's fairly light, has side focus and a half mil dot reticule. The bad, eye relief is terrible, parallax adjustment numbers are way off and the glass is just not good, a lot of blurriness. I'm not trying to put off anyone's decision, I just think there are better options.
