HW galling problem

Had an HW 50 come in for a tune recently. When I cocked it to check it out, noticed some serious galling going on. As I found with some research, there was a factory upgrade for the cocking link. It had a runner placed inside the longer link. The steel wheel was replaced with this runner and pinned in place under pressure and was just hanging loose at one end. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE ARH and have sent many orders for seals and spring there and will continue to do so. Now ARH has a fix for this same problem, tried it and didn't like the way it worked. To save time and frustration, try the Chambers upgrade #UL068 for the HW50. This part is ALMOST perfect. You will have some fitting with a file and some fine wet/dry paper, but nowhere near the time it will take you to get an even ten thousand relief along the 5-6" length. If you are having a problem with galling, do yourself a favor and get the upgraded part. Pyramyd did not have these upgraded parts nor had they even heard of it. You will need to order another rivet pin also, #DP090. Also while I was at it, changed out the barrel joint shims also, #W077. The entire order with shipping was a bit over $50. In my opinion, this is the correct way to go. The HW50 is now as smooth as any gun will ever be with the 2 piece cocking link. Operates beautifully now and from what I can tell is a permanent fix that will never need to be addressed again. Hope this helps - have a great day - Lee

My new HW50 came from the factory with the upgraded arm in place. It is indeed, very smooth. In case you missed it, I had a thread with photos of the new upgrade.

Does anyone know if a similar change was done to the R7/HW30?

Seem to remember seeing a nylon wheel that rotated around the link pin on these years ago.

A pity they won't do the same for the HW30S.

Do you think that there might be some way of revising the #UL068 part to work for the HW30S? The design seem to be pretty much the same.
Thanks for the information
