FDPCP hard to cock

I have the trigger group pretty far back and it seems to make the gun very hard to cock. Would drilling a hole behind the bolt in the stock help?

can you see evidence of the bolt making contact with the wood when trying to cock it ?

It does look like it is dented, but I guess that could be from the factory. Maybe I will put some boot polish on the back of the bolt and see if it leaves a mark.

The bolt shouldn't be protruding past the body.  If you have the trigger group back too far the gun won't cock.
Try to cock it with the stock off, if it won't try nudging the trigger group ahead just a hair.

Might just be in my head, but I moved the trigger group forward and it seems easier to cock.
Since I am just shooting paper at 10m velocity is not a big concern. I think I will try moving it even farther forward and reduce the preload on the hammer spring until I hit valve lock then add some back.

.177 or .22?
My .177 with the trigger group all the way forward and the power adjuster all the way out shot a very nice 12-13 fpe for 25 shots from 1500 psi.  Never had a problem with valve lock.

Right now it is setup as a .177. I have a .22 barrel as well. Eventually I want to set this one up as a dedicated hunter and get a gen 1.5 for dedicated basement shooting.

Since I lack a chrony and am not too bright a fellow, I had the trigger group pretty much all the way back and the power adjuster screwed in all the way. I guess I thought the paper in my basement might be Boone and Crockett class.

Tonight I will try your way. Probably will make it even quieter.

It's hard to say for sure without a chrony, but at that setting, you are probably in the 20-21 fpe range with a steady drop-off.
Good for one shot one kill nuisance animal control.
Should be a fair bit quieter.

All I know is I can stack JSBs, so any velocity drop off must not be bad enough to change POI for 5 shots. Mind you only 10m. I pulled them out of a piece of duct seal and they made a tube of lead. That made me pretty excited. This little gun is a far better shooter than I ever will be.

Hopefully I can swing a chrony next month.

Trigger group all the way forward and power adjuster all the way out resulted in an inability to penetrate duct seal at point blank. Ran the power adjuster in a couple turns and it is easy to cock and breaks paper fine.

If the trigger group is too far back and the preload adjuster too far in, the flange on the adjuster often hits the back of the hammer instead of entering the hole in it.... Off center machining is the culprit.... I've had two, they both had the same problem.... but the good news is that is more preload than you need anyway, and leads to a first shot fastest, decreasing velocity shot string....
