Hello all last summer I was out shooting my 2240 and other guns on a very hot day. I left my 2240 in the sun a couple hours and it popped the seal in the gas tube. I don't know exactly which way to go repair or MODIFY. i have a crosman custom shops pistol and love it. i like the guns I see on the net can you guys advise me maybe pictures of pistols you have put together lists of parts most important where to get parts. I'm handy with tools this cold weather is boring me so thought I might work on the 2240.

2240 is a fun gun to mod and shoot!

Here is mine, Nothing much inside, but bling and a LDC outside.

It should be a simple repair. You are going to have to completely tear it down to get the valve out. If you haven't yet go to the crosman website and download the evp/breakdown of the 2240. You should be able to see what parts you need which most likely will be the o-ring inside the valve, piercing pin/valve stem and cartridge seal on the end of the valve. Then give crosman a call with the part numbers and you are set. The only tough part is getting the valve apart. A padded vice and something to stick in the exhaust port does the trick.

Wow nice gun. Also thanks for the repair info. Is the better valve worth doing I really like these guns and don't mind working on it. So if i'm going to mod it now is the time. Does crosman sell these valves and other mod parts or is there a recommended person on here to buy them from?

IMHO the price of the super valves are not worth it unless you intend to also buy a longer barrel.

The stock valve is good, you could go with some better angles and polishing and a larger port for moderate inexpensive improvements. But in a CO2 pistol the barrel length is your biggest "killer" of "power".

A longer barrel is good I noticed you have a better breach your scope is mounted to. I have a scope on my 2300. i have been looking on ebay but don't know who to trust. Just very early in the planning stages. Any info is good. So the barrel thing is exactly what i'm looking for.

Alchemy airwerks is a vendor here and is very trustworthy. Accustoms can cut and crown a barrel to any length you as well as mac-1 airguns.

The steel breach is a must to me. Its better support for the barrel as well as a solid mounting point for optics.

Alchemy airwerks is also on eBay.

Just a note on the bling.

Personal experience.
The tri-wing nut, not worthy in my opinion.
It's never at the right angle to get it really snug.

A knurled one offered a better grip.

The entire valve assy from Crosman is only around $11.00, just drop it in ..... down the road if you want to tinker with modifying a valve body, then you have it.

Breech and longer barrel will get you the most gains ...

Mine has a modified stock CO2 tube cap, tri-wing style but still knurled on the sides.

Ok I looked on crosmans web site found the parts breakdown could not find a place to purchase or find prices for those parts. Can anyone tell me how to find prices for parts?

You have to call crosman and place your order. Make a list of the parts with numbers, place your order with all the parts you need as shipping is 4 bucks for one order no matter the number of parts. Here is the number 1.800.724.7486 just tell them you neex to pace a order for parts. They will give you the price when you order. Most all the parts are very reasonable.

The barrel for the 1322 is a little longer. The 2289 barrel is longer yet. Somewhere around 10" for the 1322 and I think the 2289 barrel is 12" not positive on that it might be a little longer. Other than that it's the 2260 barrel that is 24" but if tou have the tools and the time you can cut and crown it to any length you want.

Another thing to do is trigger work. Many posts on ways to improve them it's not hard. Just push contact points but just polish thibk no metal removed just shiny Brite smooth. Then couple washers to take out play and a rf case on the spring with it's base polished Brite.

A Good trigger will go a long way to improved accuracy.

Just to toss it out there, and not sure if you are wanting to keep it a pistol, but you can also make it into a shoulder stocked pistol, by simply adding the $25-$30 shoulder stock,...

or carbine it with an even longer barrel.
Here's what it looks like with a 24" Disco barrel mounted...

On these guns BOTH the power and accuracy comes with the longer barrels.
(you do NOT NEED to go to a 24").
A 12" , 14" , 18" will do amazing improvements in accuracy, and the longer you go, the more FPS you get.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend getting a barrel band made by one of our fine GTA members, "QVTom".
His bands are a PERFECT fit, and really top notch work.

now with that being said, and IF you are considering going "Carbine mode", then while you have it apart, and you are ordering from Crosman,... If you want to, you can change it to a 2250, just by swapping the lower tube to a 2250 tube.
This would allow you to mount the 2250 forearm grip if you choose, (you would also need to order the 2250 barrel band for this),... OR, you could forego the 2250 grip, and use 3/4" foam pipe insulation as I have done.
(this allows you to use the BETTER barrel bands from QVTom)... and ALSO allows you to use a "cartridge adapter",...

and then add a Bulk Co2 Bottle, (size of your choice).
Mine is a big 9 Oz. bottle,
(I have no idea of how many shots it will give). So far, it's at about 250-300 shots and still going strong. I'm guessing 500 shots is very possible.

So here it is in that configuration...

(at this point, I'm using (2) of QVToms barrel bands just to be even more solid and secure)

Don't want to stop there ? ? ?
How about adding a full shroud using all factory stock Crosman parts from an Mrod, for litterally "Mouse Fart" quiet, LOL !
(but at this point, the darn thing is now getting about as long as a Civil War Black Powder Musket !) LOL ! !

Great reply's. Love the guns I like carbines. This is the kind of info I was looking for I see all the great parts on guns in pictures but can't find them to buy. So thanks for the names of suppliers. And i'm in Kentucky also Dave.
