Anybody know anything about a TF 99?

When I took my TF 99 apart recently I didn't get it back together right  

Here is a picture of a pin and two washers that were left over. 

Now when you cock the gun, you have to hold down the anti-beartrap gizmo. 

Can you help a brother out or do I need to send it to Compasseco again?

Somewhere I have pics of my QB36-2 but I don't recognize those from memory. I will have to fire up the old computer later and have a look- if I find something helpful, I'll post back here.

I hate to bump a thread, but I'm wanting to take the 99 apart and find out where these part are located.

I don't remember those washers, but I mostly got into the trigger, not the piston assembly. Remember I had a QB36-2, supposedly identical to TF99.

See if any of these help.

I can tell you that part 19 was critical to anti-beartrap operation, and the two springs that go on the ears.

A lot of people get messed up on the orientation of the spring in the trigger assembly and I am including a view of that from below, to show correct orientation.

I have some other views of the guts but I don't see those washer thingies.

I think I know where the long pin goes now.  I made a short pin to go there and that is why the bear trap is cocking funny. 

I'm guessing the washers are for the barrel pivot.  It is kinda cocking crooked.

BTW I have a new TF 99 I could take apart,but I'd rather not.  I'd rather not have TWO guns acting funny at the same time!!!!!

Thanks I got it back together and it is working great now.  That long pin wasn't even for this rifle!  I think it was one I lost while working on another one.  I made a new pin for it out of a nail and filed off the ends flat. 

I put the screws back in the stock and the Locktite is drying.  I'll give it a try again tomorrow, but it is working fine now.

I still can't figure out where the washers came from! There are none on the drawings of the rifle. 

I had an issue with the cocking arm not coming back to center.  Not sure why, but I bent it so it would work.   The metal is a lot softer than you think.

maybe the washers came from another source like the extra pin. Assembly fairy's. Their cuter than parts gremlins. I've had my TF99 apart a couple times. They could be from the trigger gard to make-up for inperfection in stock fitment. Or, they go under the  two screws(one each) in the forarm. Helps spread the load and tearing up the wood turning the screws. Use loc tite. These come a little lose and your accuracy will go heywire.

Did you get your TF99 back yet? I like those guns even though they are a little on the heavy side. Just wondering, which Maccari spring and seal did you use and how did you like it? Inquiring minds want to know.

Noper, it should be back sometime next week.  It has a stock spring and a stock leather seal.  Shadow put it back together for me and smoothed out some rough edges.  It was shooting okay right up until the spring broke.

I'd be happy with a stock spring and leather seal. Does Shadow sell that kinda stuff?
The only part Compasseco sells for the TF99 online are the breech seals. I tried calling once and they wouldn't pick up. I am sorry to hear they are sold to PA. Got any ideas for TF99 parts?

I ordered a spring from Compasseco.  You just have to call and ask for them.  Shadow can get them if you are sending it for a tune.  The spring is REALLY hard to install.

I believe you when you say the TF99 spring is REALLY hard to install. I hear it's a very long spring. Almost had an accident when removing the Titan spring. I used the four bolt spacer method of disassembly found on the Kermit gun club website. When the bolts cleared the tube everything flew apart. It's a good practice not to stand in front of the spring during removal. Needless to say, I had to clean the carpet.   Next step, build a proper spacer to reassemble. Springs are tricky!!!

Man that TF 99 spring IS long.  I'm shocked that the gun doesn't shoot harder because of the spring.  I can't wait to get mine back from Shadow!  That and my Whisper are my only .177 guns.  I'm going to order some new scope mounts for mine. Some one piece high mounts.  I have a hard time loading a TF 99 with the medium or low mounts.
