Nervous about taking my gun apart

I got a disco over summer and I have been getting under 15 good shots per fill. I would love to see that doubled, or even slightly increased. I think that this newbielink:http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=77272.new#new [nonactive] is all that I need to do to get this, but I don't want to mess anything up when I take my gun apart. I have never really taken anything apart and I don't really have anything to go off of when I do take it apart. Anywhere I could get some help from?

Contact the manufacturer and obtain a copy of the schematic for the gun . Or see if its available on line. And pictures like cooter472 said . A picture of how it was , makes a schematic easier to figure out .

There is an article in the library that you can read. It is called tuning you benjamin pcp. Read it and then read my post again then i will give some more knowledge The Force is strong on The Darkside. You will get thru this with some reading and patience.

For what you seem to be wanting to do (get more shots per fill) you do not have to take the whole gun apart.  The things done for power (increasing transfer port size, modding the valve, etc) just aren’t required unless looking for more power.

To add that new mainspring and power adjuster, just need to get the rear end cap off (two screws), which will allow you to pluck out the spring.  Install a new (weaker) spring,  the new spring guide, and the new (adjusting) end cap.


One easy way is to just order the Challenger PCP parts ( CH2009-012, Ch2009-011, and 1761-009….end cap/adjuster/mainspring) and install them.   5-10 min, two screws.

Have you looked at the PDF link Oldpro posted?  The Crosman parts order number is there.

Crosman (at least the last time I ordered anything) was still a phone system (not on-line).  Chances are whoever gets the call doesn't really know "jack" about airguns, but if you've the part numbers on hand, will get the parts.

Here's one of the first videos I followed, of course you won't have to completely disassemble yours for the mods you want to do...but it's a good reference.



Unless you're getting into the air tube, the rest of the gun is pretty simple to tear down and put back together after you have done it a couple times.  Like others on here have said...take tons of pics before/while/after you take something apart.

There are tons of info on the Discos just got to do some (a lot of) looking around.
