i love this gun almost better than the others ive had!! it likes to eat cheap scopes but after a upgrade to a good scope and 4 or 5 cleanings and 1000 pellets down the tube i can cut bullet hole after bullet hole a 30 yrds. got GRT 3 trigger today that is going to make it even a more pleasure to shoot. very happy!!! it is a tad hold sensitive once you find that hold stick with it. i would reccomend it to any body. new to the site but after seeing how people cleaned their rifle i did it to mine and i shortened the break in period by half. shooting crosman pointed pellets through it right now it likes them going to try cphp through their next to see if it likes them also.

what type of scope did you end up putting on your xl1500,and is it loud when you shoot it?

i have a bushnell sportsman 4x12x40 from wal mart it is holding up for now. it is alittle loud with 7.9 grain pellets alittle softer than a .22 rimfire far as sound goes.

Welcome DSMITTY!  You say your XL is the same as a .22 Rimfire. sounds like those 7.9's are breaking the sound barrier. Just a note, but you would do well to keep it under the sound barrier as shooting the lighter pellets is pretty tough on the seal. You might even improve the accuracy at longer ranges as the pellets start to move around at those higher speeds. Of course, the added benefit of a quiet report would be gained as well. Just my .02!

thanks im going to order some heavier pellets to see what i can do with them. what pellets would recommend on pellets?

Welcome to GTA Forums DSMITTY. Glad you found us and joined up. My XL1500 likes Crosman Premiere Ultra Mags (10.5gr) and Beeman Kodiak Extra Heavy (10.6gr). Definitely try a heavier pellet to slow it down below the sound barrier and you will improve accuracy as well as quiten it down.

After finding the right ammo and getting use to shooting it, 1/2" groups at 30 yards can be had. Of course it's up to the guy/gal behind the glass.

yea im getting pretty good groups now but would like the noise to be less.
