Barrel size of FDPCP

What size is the barrel OD?

I think I might have ordered the wrong LDC from TKO, I picked the XS60 option, but that says 14mm. Just want to know if I need to contact them about a possible screwup.

I would call Mike at TKO before he ships it. The TKO phone number is on the website.

I believe the barrel size is 14.4 mm for the gen 1 and 1.5. I got this information from tri-5-Ron. Thanks again Ron. I have since measured mine with calipers and it is the same. Let us know what you think of the tko when you get it.

I just did not want to waste his time.

I sent him an email about it. Had to email him anyway as I forgot to specify caliber, might have had a touch much rye when I ordered.

I don't think OD changes with caliber. If it did, you wouldn't be able to swap barrels. Just a thought.

I did not think it did. I just figured the hole in the endcap probably varied with caliber.

So in the same email where I specified caliber I made it clear it was an FDPCP and I was not 100% sure my selection on barrel size was correct.

Yes , the TKO LDC you ordered will fit that rifle.

The bbl. is actually 14.385 mm.

.177 it is.

How do TKO brakes generally fit? I've got a first gen FDPCP I picked up last year that (sort of) came with a TKO. The previous owner pretty much ruined it trying to drill out one of the setscrews on the mounting piece and using some sort of pliers to try and twist it off. Would have been nice if that damage had been disclosed.. 

Anyway, the mount for the TKO is all that's left on the gun and think I'm going to have to go at it with a dremel to get the remains of the one grub screw and probably remove the barrel and tap it off with something. It doesn't look glued but that sucker is TIGHT! The way it is I don't think you'd ever have been able to remove this TKO without damage and I don't think that's normal, is it?

I have heard getting them on involves a block of wood and a rubber mallet. I would image removing them would be the reverse of that process. Drill hole in wood, slide down removed barrel until you hit the device and then pound with mallet. I would probably use a step bit and run it into a thick enough piece to get a fairly profile matching hole. I am sure there are better ways, but I am just thinking about the tools I already have.

As a service to the community you should at least consider airing your complaint about the seller in the correct part of our forum. If he does that to you, who knows what he will do to the next guy.

I marred the end of my .177 barrel trying to move the sight back to see how that changed its lead collection abilities. The steel screw does not take many removals and installations before it strips out the plastic it is in. So now I have a nice scratch from trying to move the sight back when I thought the screw was fairly loose and it was not. The TKO will cover that up.

Think I saw one TKO that was heated and then installed, as it cooled it shrank to fit.

OP - what's the cost and let us now how well it installs and works.

I have 4-5 of them and they fit as you would expect them too. Snug yes, but never requiring tools.

Be sure to check/verify a consistent diameter on you barrel.  Both of my FDPCPs had a slight flair at the very tip.  You couldn't see or feel it, but calipers showed it was there.  It's not so much an issue with something that needs shimmed onto the barrel, but it could definitely ruin the day on a tight fitting TKO.

It was $78. I will update on how I like once I get it.

Now I need to find a bipod. Mike keeps claiming these are $100 pcps, but for some reason mine is way more expensive than that.

Funny how that works.

I've got a couple of the Caldwell bipods.  Indexed/locking legs but no other advanced features.  For me, they work great.

How did you mount them?

I was looking at a harris one, but not sure about that yet.  I have a shooting stick, so I might just get a rest for the table in the basement.

Weird - I ordered one last night too Steve and was going to ask the same question. I saw on an earlier post that someone ordered the 14mm for the qb79 and it was a tight fit he said so hopefully ours is a little looser. I want to take it off before I go to ranges to avoid any attention as the outdoor one I go to is frequented by police.

I should have at the time. This was 6+ months ago, probably longer and at the time (and still) I've been up to my neck in parental health issues. When I saw the unmentioned damage to the TKO and some other scope mount rash on the action and the broken crosshairs in the scope (which COULD have been done shipping) I just stuck it in the back of a closet. At this point I could still let the seller know about it but it's kind of late in the game to bring it all up. I should stop carping about it and move on.

I will let the seller know what was deficient in his listing though. There were other positive parts of the deal that lead me to believe he wasn't scamming, just not looking at what he was selling as a buyer would.

Cwlongshot, Thanks. I don't have anything else with a TKO or other brake that isn't clearly a slip-on so thanks for confirming that a TKO should go on and off without tools unless otherwise noted.

StevenG, that is pretty much exactly how I plan to remove this TKO stub once I'm sure the grub screw is away from the barrel.

They clamp onto the sling stud.  So you will need to install one of those first.
I have 2 and move them around as needed.

On my 1389 I was worried as the barrel doesn't really extend enough to reach the grub screws. So I was gonna chop some off the TKO. But when I put it on it was a perfect snug fit and doesn't even require the screws to function. PLUS I can fit it into the case easier without the TKO.
