Gen 2 & Gen 3 Benjamin hand pumps

I have seen a lot of post about the benjamin hand pumps (I own one too) but didn't know there were several generations.

So, a friend sent me his Benjamin hand pump to rebuild as it was leaking when pumping.

I noticed it was different than my current one.
This one has a collar around the bottom of the shaft, and the intake is on the shaft, not on the domed base as is the newer one.

A quick call to sun optics, Duane Sorensen says it’s a gen2 pump, and the newer one is a gen 3.

All the orings are the same.

The failure was not the normal #8  007 oring, it was the #11 116 oring.
It was cut because the main shaft had come loose and in wiggling while pumping it was damaged.

I just thought I would pass this info along.

No, just use it as a "dust cover"
I have forgotten mine on there, and pumped, but didn't notice much difference.
It might have taken more pumps to fill, but didn't notice if it did.
