Hw80 scope and mount

How hard are these springers on scopes? Should I really consider a fixed variable scope? I'm looking at the bkl mounts but don't know which 1 piece will fit an hw80 and don't know what height and barrel droop comp I'll need. Any advice?

A one-piece mount is certainly advisable. Whichever make you get, make sure it has a stop pin to prevent backward movement of the mount.

I think you might need to decide what size objective you want first and then that will determine the height of the scope mount. From what I've read you will most likely need a droop compensated mount. When I thought I was getting an HW80 a guy suggested to me a BKL 260d7. So look that one up. On the BKL website IIRC it shows you dimensions of its height and width and you can see from those numbers and the size of your scope objective if it will work. I seem to remember that a 40mm objective is kinda the limit with that mount depending on if it has an adjustable ring which might add even more to that 40mm diameter.

I have two San Rafael and one Santa Rosa R1s. I use the $14.99 one piece UTG mounts found at PA. I use 42mm objective scopes.
The scopes are SWFA SS 10X42M. These scopes are braced both front and back. Because they are made for real sniper rifles, the mils are correct and the movement is perfectly repeatable. They will focus down to 10m.
There is nothing i have not tried these scopes on. Now i am upgrading to the 5-20x SS. So my 10x scopes are finding their way onto my R1s. No probs. Exactly what SWFAs engineer told me would happen.
