It was good weather today and along with the plinking came the Chrony tests.

I usually only check my most accurate pellet.

Why waste my time with a pellet I do not shoot. Your JSB are getting good FPE @ 14.5

I am still in the process of finding its favorite pellet.
I have not finished as I have not had the rifle that long, not even a month.

I am not wasting your time, its on my dime. I enjoy every shot. You wasted your time with that reply.
I will probably never lock in to a single do-it-all pellet.

Were you shooting the 7.87 jsb express or the 8.44 exact? I see the word express and I think of the 7.87.

No criticism here, you said the JSB 8.44 was amazingly accurate. I agree they work well for me too. I also agree it is fun finding the magic pellet.

You will also find out after about 2000 pellets the rifle will really smooth out. It is a fine rifle.

Its a major twanger right now with approx 500 through it so far and is not letting up. I hear some are better than
others and have not experienced any others first hand but I guesstimate this one is as bad as they can be out of the box.
I checked the screws at unpacking and it didn't take long to have to go in again on all 4 screws. I understand some can be wood compression.
I denatured alcohol the screws and applied 242 and she is holding now. I have brass forearm cup screw kits on the way.

She shoots great accuracy wise. The cocking feel and sound is improving but that twang is pretty strong.

What makse the twang really stand out is I have a fully tuned B26 and the shot cycle contrast is really amazing. I've got to get this HW95 tuned.
The B26 is under the weather right now with a bad cocking plate. I have a new style plate in route.

I'll keep shooting, talking around to the different tuners, and get taken care of here.

I like posting my Chrony results to share and for those doing searches on the subject like I did when researching this rifle.

I have an R11 as you can see from my signature, after about 1000 shots the shot cycle smoothed out, after 2000 shots the spring noise went away (or was it the other way around)

. She shoots really good, but I know a tune will make her much better (she is 2nd or 3rd on my tune list). You might find H&N FTT 8.66 4.51 head will works as well if not better than the JSB pellets.

That's a strong shooter. I like to chrony with different pellets, too. My R9 likes CPL best. It has a chopped and choked barrel, an old JM econokit (no longer made) and a new SGS seal. It is shooting 850 with CPL, and 820 with Superdomes. It is calm, quiet, and solid. It did 830 with CPL in unmodified stock form, and was very buzzy.
Enjoy your HW95. I love mine so much, I would like to have another full power in .20 or .22, and a .177 at 12 ft-lbs with full length barrel.

@ Booger - Sorry, my bad, I have the Express in .22 and got mixed up with the title between the two.

These "JSB Exact Diabolo 8.44 gr" pellets are the first I have shot an all touching, or one hole group of 5 rounds at my 17 yard target. This was standing up leaning on a door jamb as always. Such joy.

Hey Allen!!
Numbers look really good for a new stock 95.
If the accuracy is good and the buzz and twang don't get your teeth loose hang in there and shoot the snot out of it...........or you can give the lady a spa day and tune her!
I have a 98 with a Vortek kit and a Motörhead tune.......no sound at all when cocking other than a sweet scrunch at lock up!
Firing cycle is nothing but a thunk!! No buzz to interfere with holding sight picture! No spring noise at all!
Have you tested at greater distances yet??
The JSB 8.4 shoot amazingly in mine! So do FTTs in 4.51 head size.
She also really likes JSB 10.3.....big time!! Shoots them around 830 FPS.....and they hit HARD!!
I've had mine for 2 years and I still test pellets!!

I do lots of shooting to 70yds. As always around here this is standing and leaning on a door jamb.
This was with Crossman 7.9 P HP's with a maxed out Leupold VXII 2-7x33 scope. And I am still
developing my technique, getting used to the rifle, and trying different pellets. Having a ball with it ALL.

I have an Leupold EFR Ultralight 3-9x33AO with Duplex LR reticle on the brown truck.

Thanks for taking the time to post your results. I really enjoy seeing what other people are doing with a particular gun and/or pellet. It helps me a lot when I'm doing my own chronograph tests and comparing guns and pellets. Or for that matter if I'm thinking about buying a certain gun (like I am with the HW95) it sort of gives me a reference point for what expectation I might have.

Looks like she loves the 8.44's...those are good numbers, and I bet the ES will come down even further as she breaks in.
Great choice on the scope, too. You'll love that one!! Be sure to post pics of your baby once the new glass arrives.

Well, Ahem! ...Drum Roll .............. The HW95 is on the brown truck to John - N- PA for the full treatment.

I looked around and was dead set on a Springgunning - Paul Watts tune but he is covered up big time in guns way ahead of me. So I put feelers out and made the decision.

The Leupold will be here tomorrow and will be opened for inspection and go back in the box.

No cold turkey because of darned good timing. My new style cocking shoe arrived today and I just finished fitting it into the bedridden B26 with the .22 bbl (I have .177 also) and its ALIVE. It was a drop-in.
I mounted a Hawke 3-9x40 AO HD IR on medium Sportsmatch rings. I just pounced on the scope on the classifieds here, new in box for $100.00 shipped, and this time it looks like I got a great copy compared to the one I returned to Optics Planet a while back.

So it will be a while until you see the HW95 back here. I'll post pics, the new numbers, and pass out cigars.

Those 95's are sure sweet rifles shooting better than one would think being the light trim package they are.
Spring buzz is no fun and over the long haul actually causes more wear and tear on the rifles mechanics.
A simple fitted spring guide can do wonders, as would a spring/guide kit.
Honestly seldom found a buzzy gun to settle down but instead just get a canted warped spring that simply is so warped within piston cavity is just vibrates less, tho still a loose sloppy fit.

Never thought of it that way, Scott. Makes sense...gun becomes more quiet, but only because the spring warps to the point that it's contacting the walls. No noise, but still not good.

Talking to John-N-PA there is not much he does not address. Buttons, bore polish, crown, honing, deburring, aftermarket spring, custom guides, fitted seal, trigger tuning.
He test fires and sends chrony data recommending his choice in pellet.
{Author Takes A Breath} I didn't write it all down. He knows the ragged edge border line where added fps can make these too hold sensitive and tuneds accordingly. Certainly not a de-tune for sure, but no overkill either.

I think I'm going to like his trigger. He likes to shorten the 1st stage and 1.25+lbs let -off. You can request different but I like it.

No Bling, Just Sting. No brass/gold or setback trigger or safety. I love a sleeper. Its whats under the hood from which I reap my joy.
