I love my old pumpers. My 101 is a straight shooter. Anyone know the origin of the scope mount? I suspect it is Crosman manufactured but I am not sure. An ebay find, haven't seen another like it. Pictured are my 101, 110, 140 and '67 Sheridan.

Yes, "refreshed" is a better description than restored. I received it as a box of rusty parts. I wanted it to look nice but didn't go for the NIB look. I cold blued the steel, used appliance epoxy to paint the cast parts and applied a satin Tru Oil finish to the wood.

I must apologize to every one. I have been informed that any thread that mentions MSP AirRifles as any part of its primary purpose is considered to be pushy by some members. As such I have given my word to the admin that I will never post another question related directly to MSP AirRifles, I will use other forums for that purpose.

Not exactly the case or what was discussed. We welcome questions and information pertaining to MPP and SPP airguns. It helps build the usefulness of your forum. I believe some feel there was not enough NEW content just repeating a personal enthusiasm for a particular type of airgun. Passion is great!!! But lets try to keep it informative and fresh. Just an opinion.
Whatever your niche, just enjoy the sport and shooting!!!!

I personally still wish to hear more of the stories about these older pumpers. My only experience with these is with the few of others I have shot and the ones I had as a kid, so this is all new info to me.

The Uncle that gave me the 101 I have has put all his remaining 101 parts for sale on Gunbroker. The pile of parts he's parting with looks like my 101 when I received it, only the pile of parts is twice as big. It looks like there's two mostly complete 101's. Enough to build at least one complete 101 with plenty of spare parts left over. I promised I would mention it on the GTA if he ever decided to part with any of his collection.

Brothers and Sisters, I can't believe no one has put more emphasis on the older Sheridans! Built unbelievably well, accurate with no prep work (and not very pellet finicky either although they do like some pellets a little more than others) powerful for a pumper and just hands down built to last with the only maintenance being make sure you keep them lubed.

Also, can pick one up working for 90-150 bucks.

Here is some personal history for you David. The Sheridan I have was my Dad's. Built in May 1970 and my Dad bought it in 71-72 somewhere. He bought it to shoot trapped animals were he couldn't use his .22 pistol, too close to houses, and for pesting on pigeons and chipmunks. And shoot he and friends did. He took it to the steel foundry he worked at when he was young and on lunch break would blast pigeons off the I-beams 35 yards up. It would be passed around to his co-workers and bosses when they did that. My Dad and a buddy would go to one of the local cemeteries and zap chipmunks sunning on top of the grave markers. The most they got in one day was like 35-40 of them. My Dad smoked a Woodchuck at the cemetery too. He was used to people and was about 20 yards away and my Dad smacked him in the head and that was all she wrote. My Dad shot the dan A LOT! He has no idea how much but he burned through many of the yellow box cylindrical pellets.

That Sheridan worked until the early 90's, but per Timmy Mac1, it died more due to lack of lube than all out wear of the seals. Although Tim said it needed a re-fresh anyway. When talking with Tim he has witnessed and seen Sheridan's still running strong in stock form 30-40 years later and the only thing the owners did was keep them lubed properly and Tim added that's all you need to do.

Lastly, a very good friend of mine scored a late 70's (we are guessing by its parts and Sheridan history) transitional model for $20.00 bucks at a yard sale 5 years ago. Totally stock and although I have a few more FPS due to mine being sterioded, they both shoot the JSB 13 grain pellets exactly the same! We have little competitions with each other as we know it comes down to the man behind the AG

Oh, yeah, almost forgot, when I take my AG's to church events it is often the Sheridan that gets the most attention after the PCP guns. Most people have never seen one and 4 friends of mine had a shoot the army man competition and they just loved the dan. They were impressed with the build quality and accuracy. Rob said it: You can't miss with this thing!

I love the old Crosmans and have almost bought a 140 myself a couple times. Great guns, great heritage for sure.

But for a guy who loves MSP's the way you do, not having a Sheridan in your collection is a travesty brother

. I know you are on a budget, we all are to some degree, but save your nickels and keep 100 bucks handy. Many Dans were made and show up at pawn shops, yard sales and craigslist for next to nothing.
