I bought a Umarex Octane a few weeks ago from PA. I attempted to sight it in on a Caldwell Matrix shooting rest. I shot various JSB Match pellets, 14.3, 18.13 and 25.39 grain. I read up on the artillery hold, and tried to shoot it totally on the rest, only putting enough pressure on the stock to squeeze the trigger. I tried bracing the stock on my shoulder and a dozen other variations. I was unable to consistently shoot 1" groups from 10 YARDS! I could never keep my shot groups to anything decent.
I don't really like the feel of the springer - and like it even less since I can't seem to shoot it worth a &^^&.
So I shelled out 3x the money I paid for the Octane and bought a PCP - a Benjamin Marauder .25. gracious what a sweet gun. I shot less than 8 shots to get the scope zeroed. I was shooting tight groups immediately. At 10 yards, my first 5 shots after sighting in the scope were under .30" (equavilent to 1.5" at 50 yards), then shot under .20" (1" at 50 yds). So I'm happy! I'll shoot thru the chrono tomorrow.
The trigger isn't too bad, but I'm planning to adjust it - what I've read about the adjustability of the trigger sounds pretty fantastic. I'd like it to be a bit lighter.
I'll be sending the Octane back to PA. I really didn't set out to spend $600, but I got bit by the air gun bug, and I gotta have an accurate weapon!
The iguanas have no chance now. We'll be eating good tomorrow!

Shooting is not about theory, it's about practice.

LOL... Yeah , .25 Mrods have a way of making other AGs seem inadequate.. Look in your manual at the trigger pull weight screw.. Turn it alllll the way to the lightest setting... You won't regret it..

Congratulations on your Benjamin Marauder, they are really nice rifles. The 25 caliber will do some damage on the iguanas. Post a video or photos if possible.
When I bought my Marauder s18hedberg answered a few of my tuning and airgun hunting questions. With little tuning my Mrod trigger is awesome. No creep and predictable.
