As I have very young son, and it's winter I need a very quiet air gun.That way I can shoot in the basement after he goes to bed with no worries of waking him and his mother killing me. I would prefer something not hold sensitive and .177 caliber. Low fps is fine since I only want to punch paper at 10m.

Daisy 753, 853 or 953.  They are awesome, single pump pneumatics, very accurate and my 753 and 853 both crony 452 fps with JSB 8.4gr.  Lighter pellet will go faster and wadcutters make for cleaner holes in the targets making scoring easier.

Well a Crosman 2289/1322 with a little work can be so quiet that the person sitting next to you can not hear it.   Longer barrel (At least 15 inches), Weakened Valve Spring, Stuffed piston, bored valve outlet, poly tube transfer port, and you should have one super quiet shooter.

This is my basement blaster. A Crosman 2240 with a steel breech, a 10 inch 1322 barrel, a 2250 main tube, and a PRod grip and trigger assemby. I have a 6" TKO to quiet the report down to a 'mouse fart'. I can make sub dime sized groups with Meisters at 10 yards. BSA2X20 pistol scope on top.

This is the P17's reputation and it's quite affordable.  If you are looking for a rifle, the Daisy 953 is a nice shooting gun and nicely priced, too.  I bought a IZH 61 for the missus, but I found it too small (even though it has an adjustable stock).

Well I would recommend a P17( $40) if you want a pistol
or a CMP refurb 853($100) for a rifle.
Or a 2240 with a tko.

I've only shot mine outdoors. In the back yard it is nice and quiet!! In a closed space, I can't see it being a problem. It makes a clack when you close the pump, then a pop when you fire. I think any air gun would do that.

Everyone has there own opinions, but for 10M I would grab a pistol, not a rifle. The P17 is great right out of the box, well clam shell package. If you can use open sights it has nice fiber optic ones. For those of us that have trouble with open sights it has a dove tail rail you can add a red dot too, or as I just did. I added a Piciatinny rail I picked up for $8.00, then a Red Dot I pulled off of my 10/22. The Red Dot cost twice as much as the pistol but it sure is nice! And you can get decent red dots for $30 to $40.

I currently own both a p17, and a 953.
Both can be sort of loud indoors.

It depends how far you are away from the youngsters bedroom.

A TKO would solve the problem on the 953, but that's an additional $50 over the cost of the gun.

The p17 has no way to attach a TKO without adding a longer barrel.

You didn't mention a budget.

Single strokes are a good choice as there is no additional cost other than pellets.

I also have a umarex fusion, it is very quiet, but the cost of co2 is added in.
And it's $170, and fairly powerful.

I would opt for the 953, or 853 from the CMP.
About $115 either way.

Then if it's too loud, ad a TKO.

Well the 853 is quiet, the P17 is rather loud.   A Daisy 880 is quiet under 4 pumps.

I have not recently shot one, though I have been told that the Crosman 140 can be that quiet up to 5 pumps.   I will let you know on the 140 once mine arrives.

As you do not want to buy extras, I would not suggest the Crosman 13xx/2289 or 2240/2260, they are not quite quiet enough for your needs with out doing a bit of low cost work to them.   They would minimally require a longer barrel and a weaker valve spring to get quiet enough not to hear through walls.    Though it costs very little to make the 13xx quiet enough ($50 for the gun, $35 for the steel breach kit, $20 for the longer barrel, about $0.20 for the velcro or felt, and about $0.40 for the spring).

Yes, this is far from stock. Has a 10 inch barrel with a 6 inch TKO and it is very quiet. Full length rail. Has the exhaust port drilled out and it pressurizes by holding the trigger in the fire position so it backdrafts, which results in a shorter stroke and more efficient intake. Yes, the TKO clears the trigger guard and grip when fully open, but not by much.
