Which vendors DON'T use FedEx?  I messed up and placed an order without checking who their shipper was first, and now have to take a day off or they won't deliver to my house, or pay FedEx the crazy fee to change shipping address.

Not sure what the item is, but I have been able to have them drop stuff without signature. They put it around back or in the garage.

The last 3 packages I've had attempted by FedEx,  they offered none of those options.
Even asking them to drop it off where my wife works (literally next door) they charged to change the delivery address.
Regarding leaving the package without signature,  The driver said he "didn't feel safe" doing that.

I'm just at the point of avoiding FedEx completely. Even if it means using other vendors.

Right.  There are a lot of options.  You will have to call and arrange something but the office will be willing to work with you...

The last package, washing machine parts, took a week of back and forth with them.
I had to contact the original shipper and tell them what was going on to get them pushing from their end too.
The customer service "advocates" they have are a joke.

That's why i just try to find vendors who use other shipping. I've never had the issue with UPS, or DHL, only FedEx.

I've never had issues with FedEx either. They usually leave packages at my front foor, behind one of the pillars. So does UPS, and USPS. Unless shipper requested adult signature, then there is no avoiding the required signature. But that is hardly UPS, FedEx, or USPS fault, for providing a service as requested and paid for by the shipper/seller.

I'm glad you've had such positive experiences with them, I haven't.
Which goes back to my original question.

I love FedEx, they even deliver on Saturday. UPS has a rifle for me in Mesquite, I called this morning and asked if I could pick it up, they said sure you can pick it up on Monday. Today is Friday and now I have to wait until next Friday to shoot her because I have to go out of town this Monday. Oh well, it is what it is. Even USPS is better than UPS.

My advice would be to avoid having things shipped via "signature required service" if you cannot be home to sign for the item on the scheduled delivery date.  FedEx is not at fault for requesting a signature on delivery, a service requested and paid for by the seller/shipper.  And i have never been required to sign for a package on which "signature required upon delivery" was not paid for by the shipper.

No carrier would leave an item without a signature where signature is required; that would be charging for a service and not providing it.

Most likely beacuse in those instances items have been shipped without signature required upon delivery service.  You get what you pay for.

USPS also delivers on Saturday, but i don't remember if UPS does.  Having said that, i know i have been delivered items by USPS on Saturday (as well as other days) which have been delivered to USPS for home delivery by UPS.

FedEx, it's smart post if you want to wait 2 weeks for your package.  DHL, it's global mail and it gets to where ever in a few days.

None of the packages required signatures... funny how someone added that when I never said it.

Still the question is only answered regarding one vendor, so it looks like I need to find other ways to get parts.  It's hard enough getting ammo because of Illinois silly laws, but even parts are going to be an issue.

Isn't it odd how so many respond like we're the ones with the issue, and not FedEx?  It's a simple request to NOT have FedEx be the shipper, but a lot of vendors won't even give that option.

I live in a very rural area so this probably won't work for more built up areas. I leave a note on my porch door saying.
Attn : Fed-ex. Please leave package number xxxxxxxx on porch. Thank you, then I sign it.
So far it has worked just fine including for signature required.
