CZ 634

I am kind of looking at a CZ 634 for my first break barrel plinker. The comments on them are all over the chart. I have read that they are not as hold sensitive. Is this accurate. I have 6 PCP's and a couple of pumpers, so I am not used to the loose hold on any gun. The blue and black stock is not a dealbreaker for me.

Being lower in power, they are not very hold sensitive.  They are a fun plinker, but I couldn't get used to barrel latch release, for that "all out" enjoyment experience. Replaced with the HW30.

CZ enjoys a good reputation.  Before you buy you may wish to investigate how warranty repairs are handled and the criteria for warranty replacement.

Are you hinting they are not good. I kind of like to roll my own as far as fixen.

I have the wood stocked version of the 634 that I got from Buds a few years ago and I can tell you that it is hands down the most accurate iron sighted air rifle I own. I found it liked the RWS super domes and the JSB 7.33 exact domes. The fit and finish is very nice. The gun would be a complete 10 but it does have a lot of spring twang. My rifle does have a very nice trigger.

My 631 (same mechanism) had some buzz.  Polished spring ends and a little stickier grease on the spring cured that.  Roadworthy raises a good point about warranty repairs.  My plastic trigger guard cracked, and CZ USA said it would take 6-9 months to get a replacement from the Czech Republic.  This is not to say that the guns are prone to failure - the trigger guard (and the plastic knob on the barrel catch) only failed after a lot of use.  Like Moorepower I like to "roll my own," and the aluminum replacements have been in service for many years.

Nice gun-634- wish I had bought one before 3- nitro bnj 3 rem npss- 1bnj nps . shots as acc as my HW50s @ 20yds. trig is not up to the record or overall finish but for the price hard to beat. I have and shoot many CZ PB they are famous for great barrels. After owning to many guns to list, I can tell you that you can do all the tune-up jobs you want but you can not make an acc gun if the barrel is not up to it.!!!!

I have a 631 and a blue composite stocked 634.  Both have amazingly accurate barrels hampered by pretty horrible triggers.  I am actually amazed at how well these both shoot given that I am generally used to very good triggers. 

Neither are hold sensitive in my experience.

Both buzz and twang quite a bit.  Its an airgun with a giant spring in it.  This has never really bothered me with airguns.........strangely it use to drive me crazy on AR15s and M16s but I digress.

Honestly I am very happy with both and both exhibit accuracy on par with my two HW30 which is pretty amazing as both have the exact opposite of the awesome Reckord trigger.    They just take a bit more work to shoot well. 

I think they would make a great built *(&^ for stout spring gun.  I am not nearly the expert many folks on here are but I will say they are much better MUCH BETTER guns then the Chinese and Gamo/Spanish guns I have tried or owned.

The only complaint I have about my 634 is the scope  mounting dovetails.I tried three or four different mounts before I found one that would actually clamp to the rifle.Cuts are very shallow at least on my 624.I used an American made RWS two piece  adjustable mount that is no longer made.

BKL260-D7 clamped on mine.   The dovetails are abit undersized for most China clone mounts to grab tight enough

I have a 631 and I find the trigger is very nice and I am a trigger snob. It has no buzz or twang. The only thing is mine is low powered (600FPS), and I prefer around 800-950 FPS.

Both my 631 and 634 have a lot to be desired in that department.  I got robbed.

The easiest way to improve the 631/4 trigger is to remove and forget all about the adjustment mech. Next, once the gun is loaded and aim is taken, BEFORE you push the safety to fire, pull the trigger. Most, if not all creep can be taken up by doing this.
Both of my CZs have crisp, predictable let off when I use this technique.
Buzz/twang is easily removed by adding a piston liner and using good lubes in the right places.

I've had a 634 for about six months and find it to be very accurate. It's still being broken in and might get better yet.  My only complaint is that I could not find one with a wood stock. IMO well worth the money.  Bought it from Bud's Gun Shop for around $160.00, shipping included.
