Carve a BullPup stock for the BAM-B50 /51

Hi everyone,

I'm sure there may be others that would be interested in this question.  Is there anyone out there interested in making a Bullpup stock for the Bam B50/ 51? It would not have to have the final sanding and finishing done, just make a completed stock that is ready to be installed even though it is unstained and sealed.  I'd like to finish it myself:-)

Step one: get the trigger linkage working. Will have to have the trigger way ahead of the actual sear, so get that worked out first.

Step two: Once you know how the trigger is going to work and where the linkages need to be, then design the stock.

Short of a long cantilever mount from the breech, or bands and a rail around the pressure tube..

The free floating, glued in barrel is too whippy (not whimpy, just too flexible) to mount a scope directly to..

Take a look at what other bullpups are doing for scope mounts. Should give you some ideas that could be applied to the BAM.

Pup conversions are an interesting journey ... When dealing with rifles especially those less popular for such conversions you need to get creative and just think outside the box.

Couple years ago even with all the interest in pups no one was following threw and producing a kit .... So, head first down the rabbit hole I went !!

Thanks for the input everyone.  I was starting to wonder if I made a mistake in asking the question:-)

No, I don't have a template for the stock yet.  I was thinking of just coping the Edgun stock design, and just keeping it simple.  I've been thinking of ways to address the trigger linkage and assembly issue.  I've seen many good ideas, but nothing that would be easy to implement since I don't have a machine shop.  It sounds as if there are 2 major obstacles to overcome before even getting to the actual stock creation.  That would be trigger linkage, and scope mounting.  I've only got basic hand tools, mostly for working on cars and stuff like that.  I don't even have a drill press at this time.


As a side note:

I was considering selling my BAM B50, and just getting an air rifle that is already a Bullpup.  The cheapest thing I've seen so far is the P-12 from MrodAir.  I was really wishing and hoping it would be a sub $500 dollar gun, but that was just wishful thinking I suppose.  Maybe I was just smoking crack, and the time.
I was on the Mrodair site yesterday, and the $749 price tag, made me quickly hit the "x" button.  It appears that they love their rifles more than I ever could.
So much for "CHEAP" Chinese Bullpups huh...  Nothing "CHEAP" about a $750 dollar price tag.  At least not in my budget.  I can only imagine what the price will balloon to if the P-12 ever catches on.
I was under the impression that the P-12 would be to Bullpup air rifles what the BAM B50 is to standard configuration air rifles.  A low cost Chinese copy, but made of great quality like the BAM is.  Ya know for 200 bucks the BAM B-50 is one *(&^ of an air rifle.
Maybe I'll just stop smoking crack;-)  Hehehe.....

Depending on your budget you could have a machine shop make the scope mounts or some people use rail extensions.(above links)

I like the IDEA of a bullpup, and the handling and length of a bullpup.

But in the reality of shooting one that was not born a bullpup, the ergonomics start to get into the way.

Especially on a single shot.

My biggest issue, is to cycle the action, you have to completely unshoulder the gun, work the bolt at the very back of the gun, and load a pellet.

A side lever repeater makes it somewhat easier, but you are still technically touching your right index finger to your shoulder joint.
And as you get older, that flexibility can become challenging.

Now, the hatsan at44 pump would make a great bullpup (in my uninformed opinion as I have never handled one or shot one)
But with a repeating mechanism, that is actuated from the front, the overall design SEEMS on initial inspection, to have the basis for a great bullpup.

The Bam B50 when it came out, and was popular, was a lot more expensive than it is now.

Hopefully for (us shooters,) the mrod air product will do the same..

Here is what I used for the scope mount on my AT44. Mounted right onto the end of the stock scope rail and gave me plenty of room for my optic.

I've tried cocking and loading with the stock off and action to my shoulder
and its a bit tricky,but I was able to do it without to much trouble.
(but I'm still just a youngster...)

Bullpups are interesting, but a bullpup STOCK is a Prohibited weapon in Canada.... Yep, that's right, it's in the same category as a Machine Gun.... *LOL*.... However, a factory produced bullpup (providing it's over 26" and designed for two hands) can end up on the non-Restricted list like any other air rifle, or even a non-PAL gun if under 500 fps.... but doing a conversion?.... jail time....

Yes, I hate restrictions, especially STUPID restrictions.

You in Canada, can order or buy a Norinco,(ploytech) m1a, for about $400 U.S. dollars , but here in the states, no more, not since Clinton,administration.

We are saddled with $1200+ models.

I wanted to buy an FN-FAL, made by imbel, I can't buy the completed gun.

But I can buy an Imbel made lower, and an imbel made upper , separately, and put them together legally..

Go figure...
