TX 200 or Pro Sport help me decide

I've only be into air guns since July and am in up to my neck already. Presently I have 3 PCPs and would like to venture into the world of springers. I've narrowed it down to either the TX 200 or the Pro Sport. Which ever one I chose would be a .177. It would be used  mostly for punching paper, plinking and the occasional elimination of any errant squirrel that wanders to close to the house.

Which one would you choose and why? Also, is tuning a springer much different than tuning a PCP?

 While I have your attention. After I get whichever one I decide on what maintenance should be done before even shooting it?

I bought a very nice used TX200 MK III .22 and a brand new Pro Sport  Walnut .177 . Love the TX200 and the Pro Sport was sold a few weeks ago , beautiful and accurate as the Pro Sport was I just never fell in love with it so now another fellow GTA member is the proud owner and totally in love with it. What I am trying to say is if at all possible try both rifles before you buy if at all possible

Winner either way. I have the P.S. and have shot several T.X. It mainly boils down to which one looks the best to you.

You can't lose with a choice like that.
If at all possible, get your hands on one of each and see how you like them. 
And as usual, I recommend going with the walnut.

in in the other hand had 3 TXs and ended up selling them all... all three tuned guns and 2 .177s and 1 .22 (i kinda liked the .22 better as per shooting manners...) but i did buy a .22 pro sport that i still have... that is not going anywhere anytime soon... tuned, mine shoots 15 gr pellets at 732 fps avg. and is truly a wonder to shoot...  you wonder what i shoot in .177? an HW77k ( its my HFT rig). fits me better than a TX

I'm considering a Aeon 6 - 24 x 50 AO scope for whichever one I decide on.  Will this scope fit without blocking the loading port?

I mostly shoot at paper targets indoors, sometimes at knock down metal field targets outdoors.  I briefly owned a Tx200 HC in walnut, but sent it back when an issue developed.  I am very impressed with the full length TX I have now.  I do wish I still had the carbine, though.  I liked the shorter barrel, and I can't tell the difference in noise output.  The super accuracy was the same between the two.

I have never shot a prosport, but I miss the carbine.

If you're not already committed to the Aeon, take a look at the  Clearidge scopes.    The Ultra XP 6-20 gets excellent reviews.

Hey Marty!
I have both in 177. TX is beech cause I got tired of waiting for back ordered walnut. Pro Sport is walnut.
Love the walnut....after a few coats of Tung oil.
So hard to compare the 2. Both of mine have been wonderfully tuned by Scott, Motörhead, with SHO kits from Vortek.
Both are insane accurate, stupid smooth and easy to shoot well with fantastic triggers.
Pro Sport is sexier looking and a little less nose heavy.
Pro Sport easier to shoot off hand.
TX, full size, little easier to cock.
Nice gentle shooting cycles on both and I have never had a scope slip or move.....the Pro Sport has a Hawke 8.5-25x42 Sidewinder on BKL single strap rings....hasn't budged.
TX has a 6-24x56 Sidewinder on double strap BKL rings...no movement.
Get the scope you want even if it covers loading port....no prob loading...check the pic.
You really can't go wrong with either one bro.
Both are a joy to shoot, reliable, beautiful....you're gonna need one of each!

It comes down to looks, pretty much.  Is the sleek look of the Pro Sport worth the higher tariff to you?  For me it was a matter of wanting a more "big gun" look than a traditional under lever gives.  Mine is the beech stock as couldn't swing the extra $$ for the walnut.  Could have had the TX in walnut for about the same money - but wanted the ProSport more than the walnut.  Am tickled with my choice.  The rifle looks good, handles great and should be with me for some time to come.

It really does come down to what really floats your boat. Presently I will keep buying and selling and keep the ones that do "IT" for me whether it is Springer , PCP or maybe even a really nice pumper

Just placed an order with PA. I went with the TX 200 .177 with Beech stock, the Aeon 6-24 x 50 scope and a couple of tins of pellets. Should be here on Tuesday.

If your shoots like ours ? ... JSB or AA 8.4 and the H&N FTT 8.64 will be your Go Too pellet.

I have a set of BLK 300MB high mounts that came off a different AG. I'll start with these and see how they work out.

I ordered a tin of JSB Heavies 10.34 4.52mm and a tin of H&N FTT 8.64  4.52mm for now.

Clean the barrel when it arrives.  It's going to diesel on you for a while, and don't expect same hole groups because of that.  Run at least both tins through her, then begin evaluations.  If you have a chrony, run a test after about 500 pellets, just to make sure it is shooting near spec.  Generally she likes H&N FTT 4.52 8.64, JSB 8.44 and several others.  For break-in run anything in the 8+ grain but shy away from the super light or super heavy pellets until after break-in.  Enjoy

She was on my door step when I got home tonight(TX 200 & Aeon 6-24 x 50). Unpacked everything, ran a bore snake through the barrel about 4 times, and mounted the scope. Sighted her in at 30'( only a couple of clicks off). moved back to 48'(all I can get out of the basement) and rezeroed the scope. Put 7 H&N FTT 8.54 5.52 pellets down range. Had 2 fliers, the other five grouped .23 CTC. I was shooting through a chrony and was getting 860+/- with the 5 shot group. With the 2 fliers the fps had dropped by 50fps for each of the 2.

Wow, I'm impressed. She's a keeper. Can't wait until everything gets broke in.

Only problem is I need better scope mounts. The ones I had laying around aren't going to cut it. What are you guys using for mounts on the TX?  Also are you lubing your pellets? She seems to spew enough oil/grease to do the job. My glasses had oil spots all over them.
