Which scope would you choose?

If the gun you were scoping was to be used from 10 to 80 yards and you had a budget up to $1,000  (less is more wallet friendly of course),  What scope would you pick and why?

For the question, the gun is a PCP, but I always try to consider placing it on other guns in the future.

What brands do you always stay away from and why?

What is your favorite scope and why?

Or maybe the best way to ask all of the above is;

     If you could only have one scope, what would it be and why?

I just bought a Sightron 10-50x60 so its my choice. I do like the idea of  60 AO so you have some field of view at high power.


The one deal breaker is tracking. Optics are second

I second this on the Hawke Sidewinder 30.
I have a (2) UTG 6x24 56mm at $230 works just fine, I am think the hawke would be the better choice!

I have owned a Hawke and have no complaints but it cannot paly in this field. We are talking Leupold, Bushnell elite, Top end Weaver tactical, SWFA SS etc.......

I believe in glass. I For completion the Sightron or Leupold .

Check the classifieds John B has a killer deal on a 8-32 Bushnell Elite 4200. You cant get better glass for less and they track well enough for silhouette and that's really saying something.

my favorite scopes are the barska line which by my sig expresses my preference.
brands i stay away from? tasco comes to mind.
my favorites are the ac11674 and ac11380  glass is clear at all magnifications thin recticles, easy adjustable locking turrets, holds zero, side parallax, IR if needed,  I like the P4 and 3G recticles,no where near the budget.
between the two the ac11674.
my main needs for any scope is that it can focus, be clear, and holds zero. besides, nothing stings more than a guy with a 1000.00 scope getting beat by a guy with a 200.00-300.00 scope.

No doubt in my mind, and I have compared these scopes against 2-$3000 scopes at my job that we build NV and scope cams for the military...
