I broke my Diana 34!

Might as well make my first post on the new board a doozie!
I've been going through a home spun pellet test using some quality control statistical techniques (I don't have a chronograph, pellet scale, or gun vice), so numbers, and a basic education in quality control, are all I really have to work with. Was just about to wrap up my comparison of the RWS Superdome and RWS Super-H-Point pellets when the rifle refused to cock. I've since read that my problems are either simple wear and tear or something bigger. Regardless, I was 30 shots away (90 shots for each pellet) from getting all the data when it happened. Now, all that data is so much garbage. ...sigh.
So, I took this as a great excuse to pick up a shiny new Diana RWS 34 Meisterschutze Pro Compact w/ 3-9x40 Scope. It should arrive early next week. In a few months I'm hoping to send my original 34 off to be touched (blessed) by Gene himself... assuming I didn't do any really bad damage to it. Then I'll have a rifle for open sight matches
and
one for scoped shoots.
I can't wait!

I'll do that. I'm hoping it's just the spring. Just counted the empty pellet tins I've been saving for targets. I've fired, at a minimum, 5,000 shots through it, and I know the number is higher than that. Probably in the 7,000-8,000 shot range. I could probably replace the spring myself, but the idea of a professional once over and custom tune is very appealing.

This happened to mine once, funny thing is all I needed to do was pull the trigger. Then it cocked every time after. Some how the trigger got engaged on a light pull, then when I went back it wouldn't cock. Started to take it apart and saw the safety was out, so I pushed it in and pulled the trigger. Click and all was good.
Got lucky I guess.

Good news! It's the mainspring.
Morgan, she'll be headed for The Master's Touch sometime in the future. I'm thinking it'll be worth the wait, and in the meantime, her shorter sister is due to arrive early next week. As long as I can make it through the next 3-5 business days...

No worries, Shadow is picking up the ball, and has the Bob/Gene seal of approval :-). Of course, once the new forum is all up and running smoothly, Gene may be so bored that he'll go back to tuning. If that doesn't work out, Rob Hawkins also has an excellent rep when it comes to tuning Diana's. Later.

Thanks Dave! I'll send her off to whomever has a good rep with you guys. Y'all have never steered me wrong. *(&^, 90% of what I've learned about my air rifle, I've learned here.

Excellent, thanks Tom. I've gotta write some of these names down. After dropping $$ on the new rifle, I definitely gotta wait a few months before I can afford to get the old one tuned.
Heh... I feel like I'm waiting to get a weapon upgrade in a real life video game.

Cool, thanks again! I like options.
Hey, while we're on the topic, anyone know of any air rifle tuners in NH? If there's a good local shop, that might be a win win. I'll ship to another state if that's my only option, but I'd prefer to drop off and pick up if possible. If not... so be it.

Now I'm drooling. Smooth? I don't think I've ever experienced that word... is it the kind of thing where you don't know what you're missing till you have it, and then once you do, you can never go back?
