In the market for a .22 air rifle to add to my small collection I want a break barrel as most of my others are pneumatic pumps. Looking for one I can hunt squirrel and rabbit with.

Yea I have a benji 397 that is by far my favorite right now. I'm just wanting something new to hunt with that would be a little quicker and quieter to load.

RWS Model 34 in .22 with the T06 trigger is right in your range. Great trigger, good fit and finish, decent power.

My vote for RWS 34 also! I have the Pro Compact in .177 and it's a great little hunting gun.

Another vote for the 34. Fits perfectly in your budget, nice trigger, nice wood, quality materials, powerful and accurate.

Some good suggestions above but here's a great deal on a nice rifle.
I have both springer and piston in .22 and I love them!

Got lots of family north end of your state.

Cory, if you are patient and can wait another month or so, you might be able to pick up a refurbished Diana 34 for about $100 less than the avg. retail price. Airgun Depot usually has a run of refurbs leading in to Christmas. Bookmark their site and check it a couple of times a day. I have a Diana 48 and 350 purchased refurbished from them and both were without blemish and great shooters. My 34 was purchased from PyramydAir 4 years ago when they were still around $200. It is a jewel of a rifle.

The 34 is looking like the best choice but I did a little searching around and found a stoeger ATAC. any opinions on those?

The stoegers are not bad guns, i've owned and shot a few but not the ATAC. Still, you should buy the most quality that you can afford. For $280, that would most definitely be a RWS 34 in wood. There are probably a lot of people out there that have owned and shot much more expensive guns, who will tell you that the 34 is as good as any breakbarrel gun for twice the price. Do a search on youtube for reviews of the 34 and compare them to other guns reviews you are looking at.

For $169 I bought a 34 compact with the included RWS scope, rings and mount. Added a few tins of pellets and for just under $200 shipped I had a real nice springer. AGD has a great reputation and will help you out if you do not find a refurb online. Call and tell them what your looking for. This is what I did and had a 34 in my hands about 4 weeks later..
