Any one?

Out of curiosity, do you pump all of your rifles? I just started looking into getting a tank, and feared the lack of resources because it's VT. But FireProTec does fills on scba tanks for roughly $12, they're over by Costco.

Hi,
Nice to hear from in-state fellow air gunners!
I am pumping for now. I was thinking the same about lack of recharging stations. I need to check if any of the fire departments around here do refill.
Did you do any air rifle hunting this year?
I got me 4 nice cotton tails and a few squirrels. All gone in the pot and stewed
Keep in touch
Cheers

I was wondering about fire stations too, but since most of our states are volunteer, I wasn't sure if they had that kind of equipment. I was thinking of checking the new(ish) Williston one.
I don't get home through most of the year before it gets dark out, so I don't usually get much chance to get out. I did get a couple squirrels early on though.
Ha, this is like our own personal gate. We're the only ones here, like a PM.

Yeah, I did most of the hunt during the fall till about Thanksgiving, then I have the same issue about getting home in the dark.
I hope some other Vermont air gunners join in and maybe we can get all together this spring or summer.
I know a couple of ranges that have the 3D archery that would probably let us run an FT course.
Do you get to shoot indoor?
I managed a 10m indoor lane between the mud room and the garage so I can shoot some in the evening.
Keep in touch

Chris: Regarding pumping or using tanks.
I have a couple of hand pumps and use them once in a while, but I got Air tanks long ago. Much easier.
When I (oritinally) checked the closest place to fill 4500psi was in Eastern NY, or at Lake Winnipisaukee (near it) in NH. I ended up getting my own compressor (A Bauer) - Not the most economical choice but very convient.
Now there are some middle of the line ones but at the time it was a shoebox compressor or a full blown dive compressor. A SB gen II with filters would have run me close to $1600-$1800 but was 1/100th (Yes, 1%) of the speed of any of the small dive compressors for 3-4K. So although more money, the dive compressors were a much better buy and had better filtering, etc. It would take basically a day to fill my 97cf tank with a shoebox. I can fill it (3000-4500) in about 12 minutes now. The Shoebox also needed a first stage compressor. The new Alpha 90's look very nice and if they had them at the time I probably would have gone that route. The Shoebox's (at the time) also needed frequent maintenance (every 4hrs I think). I think the original at $600 (plus some filters) was a great little compressor but once it went up over a grand (without filters) commercial compressors become more of an option.
The Alpha looks like it's (slow) enough to directly fill the PCP's without a tank. A good tank with all the fixin's will run you $400-$900 depending upon the size, valves, gauges, hoses, etc.
If you end up going that route talk to Joe B for the tanks - Quality stuff, reasonable prices, and he's a wealth of knowledge.
Also, if you get a tank(s) you'll need to hydro test them every 5 years, should get them visually inspected at least once a year also. Currently Carbon fiber tanks can only be used for 15 years but DOT is reconsidering that due to feedback from various agencies.

Hi Ironpumper!
Thanks for the good info.
I did look up some prices and it seems that the tank route might have to wait for some more funding
We definitely need to all get together as soon as spring kicks in. Or any time really.
It would be nice to start some friendly field targets, or any type of air rifle matches up here.
I wish we could have a club or something.
Keep me posted.
Cheers
