Dallas FT Club Oct 18 Match Report

The Dallas Field Target Club held its October match on Saturday, Oct.18 at the dedicated airgun range at Elm Fork Shooting Complex, in west metro Dallas. The weather was wonderful, with sunny skies and very moderate temps (65-80°). The wind was mostly calm, but unpredictable 5-7mph gusts occasionally threw a curve at shooters who did not want to wait them out. The 10:00am Fall start time meant that shooters had to contend with some early afternoon glare by match end.
Buddy Holland Concentrates (What's up with that weird tree trunk to his right?)
Twenty-two participants contested
ALL SIX AAFTA Classes,
a first we haven’t seen in Texas for some time. Several folks shot their very first FT match, including Paul Bracaglia’s daughter, Jenna. IMO, the rookies all did quite well their first time out on a 30 Troyer course.
Mike Vredenburg shot an excellent match high of 48/50 (96%) in Open-PCP. Ron Robinson once again won Hunter-PCP with a fine 43/50 (86%), followed by Bob Dye at 41, and Kevin Enzian’s 40.
Randy Smith took top honors in WFTF-Piston with 26, and Brad Vanpool, shooting his first match, led a field of three shooters in Hunter-Piston with a 22. Scott Cotton shot a 27 in WFTF PCP, while Paul Bracaglia posted a 23 in Open-Piston. (Jenna grinned from ear to ear at outshooting dad by 3 points. Sorry, Paul, but I just HAD to include this tidbit… LOL)
Jenna and Paul Bracaglia having great fun!
I think everyone had a great time shooting and conversing with the new folks about everything airguns. We have a great bunch of FT shooters in North Texas, indeed. Thanks to all who attended. And a special thanks to Kevin Enzian for helping me with countless tasks.

I had a great time, thank you for setting up a very nice event. I was thankful I scored more than 6. LOL After the first 2 lanes I got the hang of using shooting sticks. My next goal is to shoot 21. LOL

Delighted to meet you, Jesse. I'm glad to see you had fun, and were satisfied with your first match score. Trust me, you will do better and better with each succeeding match, as you develop a shooting routine (handling the bipod, your pellets, organizing the reset strings, etc) that allow you to concentrate more on your shooting.
Good performance for your first time out!!!
See you at the next match in December!

John, it's a Looooooooong drive, as I made it your way in June (about 12-13 hours depending on stops). But that was for a two-day Grand Prix event.
Our next match will be Dec 13th, with a 44-shot rifle match, followed by a 40-pistol match. Have any relatives in North Texas who would like to see you early for Christmas? We'd love to have you.
