Opinions on Hatsan 135 .177 to .22 barrel change!

Hey Guys,
I am quite new to changing and playing with the internals of an air rifle although quite old at shooting. I have read a lot of articles on superb performance of 135 with .22 barrel so i was regretting buying .177 but then i decided to change the barrel to .22 with the zarimex barrel, given on their website( Please search Zarimex Hatsan 135 Barrel on google, as i am not allowed to post the url here)

Since the spring remains the same for both the variants (.177 and .22) and so are the other internals, i hope i  wont ruin my rifle with bigger barrel ?

Will i get the performance of Hatsan .22 or atleast some FPE better than my .177 ?
I will also change to ARH piston seal with his recommended lubes. 

Has anyone else tried doing the same (changing with bigger than original barrel) with any air rifle ?

Any other suggestions please ?

 Ive tried too. Thing is Hatsan wouldnt ever give me a barrel. So what had to be done was buying the refurb hatsan and then swapping barrels. I've also done it with B19 clones...basically crosman air rifles as most of there stuff on hand. I bought seals from JM. And a very sticky lube from Rick Eustler.

 My old 125 Hatsan did great in .22 but better in .25 cal. 31fpe is tremendous power for a air rifle.

 For your rifle you should not only see fpe go up slightly but the pellet should hold energy longer because of teh high bc.

i can't answer your question ... but , their site sells one spring that is supposed to fit the Hatsan 70/80/85/90/125/135/150/Striker and FWIU theres at least 3 different spring for those that aren't interchangeable . makes me suspicious .........

rick (from airgunweb.com) told me hatsan barrels are serial numbered to the action , that they won't sell them separately to USA consumers but do to some other countries .

Thanks a lot mate.. I will try it for PCP(BT 65 Elite) too once i am  successfully done. But i just have fear one thing that the zarimex barrel should be as good as Hatsan's. Or it might not give me the desired results ?

Thanks a lot for searching the stuffs for me for confirming the authencity of those products..
But I am sorry I could not give the exact site from which i ordered the product. I did it from( Air rifles . eu ) website and it provides different spring for different models , and different barrel too. air-rifles.+eu/+product/+Spare-parts-air-rifles_Barrel-for-Hatsan-135-+5.5-mm
but the suspicion in my mind exists because i was expecting a Hatan Barrel whereas i got a Zarimex one although it mentions 5.5mm and 42 Joules energy at the top of the barrel.
I hope it goes fine . Should i try it or is it risky ?

Yeah.. But some weird laws of the land are causing trouble. One is allowed to import only .177 rifle only although he can import parts of any. Moreover rifle of upto .25 are available if they are indigenously made. So ultimately i had to go for .177 and then a barrel instead of ordering .22 in 1st or atleast 2nd go..

My 135 pushes Jsb Exact 10.34 grs about 1040fps. H&N makes three .177 pellets that are about 15.7 to 16.01 grs. Maybe bigger .177 pellets would get you closer to the desired fpe. I don't know, fpe doesn't matter to me so I don't study it.

Hi guy's, I know there haven't been any comments on this subject for a while but I wanted to throw this in. I picked up a very nice Hatsan 135 yesterday from a guy who was an engineer. The 135 started as a .177 but he fitted a M125 barrel in .22 and an Elite gas ram. He told me she was doing about 900 fps ..she felt on form no doubt she was cracking at least 800. On shouldering her I was supposed at how much weight the ram had saved she wasn't heavy at all then the guy showed me what he took out and boy those parts were heavy. I only fired two Field Target Trophies and the gun shot beautifully, just a thwack..quite relaxed when comparing it to the AR 2000 I used to have. Being an engineer the guy had fitted a cap screw bolt to the breech block which he said was superior to the original. While I was there I shot his Vortek sniper in .25..very very nice..and also his much modded QB 79 in .22 doing 650 fps, again very very nice. Boys toys aye..boys toys.

I've thought about this too... Getting a .22 cal. barrel for mine and doing the change out upgrade. But after looking at it and crunching some number it's a toss up. With the heavy pellets available in .177 cal. the Eun Jin @ 17grs. and Newboy at 15.8grs. Your shooting right with a .22 cal.. As stated the .25 cal. would give more advantage in E. OM

If you purchase a 135 Vortex it's very easy to tune. The springs take more effort in building a compressor. With the gas rams they are only compressed about an inch so not a safety hazard or danger of scratching gun if you use a simple press. I used clamps on a pipe and two blocks of wood to press back into place. Need a screw clamp to press it. Used a trigger ratchet clamp to hold in place to pop out pins then released it. Pop! Out comes the end about an inch and you can remove ram and piston. Easy.

To tune it your really only going to debur the piston tube and replace the main seal with aftermarket and lube it up with moly paste. It's not hard to do at all. The stock seal lasted me about 1500 shots then power went south real fast. That's when I tuned it.

I would rather just send it out and have everything done trigger, Piston, honed etc. professionally  I just don't know who works on the Hatsan's

You actually might consider talking to Jeff aka Privateer...he has a thing for Hatsan's and tuning them although you can get the 135 with the Vortex piston and the Quattro trigger other than being adjusted to the shooters taste, really doesn't/shouldn't need any work:
