Open sights for a CZ 631

I have decided not to sell my CZ 631 Lux. With that being said it does not have open sights (both have been removed). Where should I look to find rear sights for her? Should I buy open sights or look for peep sights?. I am 55 with old eyes, but I only consider this a 10-20 meter rifle.

From my research the CZ 631 is a 600 FPS rifle with 7 grain pellets, and the CZ 634 is a 700 FPS rifle. If I had only known I could have had the power raised to 700 FPS it might have made a fair FT rifle. I have noticed one thing about the CZ 631 and that is the wood stock is very nice and it will be a great rifle to teach my 11 yo son proper technique to shoot 10 meter targets. Now I just need to find The Pellet.

          I don't know if there is a reliable source for such an item in the USA (or Canada who is nearby).

               The peepsight solution is also a very good alternative with just one minor point. You have to remove the sight each time you want to install a scope.

For a 10m rifle, I would go with peep sights over open sights.
Much easier to aim at round bulls.
But I have not used peeps in the back and blade in the front.

Years ago when I bought my first 631 I also picked up a Williams peep and a Diana match front sight that fit the barrel grooves perfectly. It was basically the same sight for the model 350, and would accept different inserts. Great combo for the rifle. I long ago regretfully sold the rifle but kept the set of sights. They now are on my current 631 and work just as well.

About the power of the 631. It used to have a different piston seal type that resembled an HW type but most recent models have more of a Diana type seal that actually allows for more volume in the comp tube. This newer model that I have did 625fps with 8.44gr pellets out of the box. After a couple thousand rounds its quite cosistently averaging 615fps. The only mods were de-buring, heat shrink tubing on the guide, and proper lube. Also took the trigger adjustment out and pitched it. Made the trigger ten times better. Newest models also have a more normal sized dovetail mount unlike the 13mm the old ones have.

Paul Watts tuned mine, he told me that my old rifle was made for 600FPS with 7 grain pellets, and she was within parameters. He said with some machining he could get it to 700FPS like the CZ 634. I am happy with the way it is, and will find her magic pellet at a later date. Right now I am busy breaking in my FWB Sport and becoming one with my R11.

      I wondered many times if the standard Diana "tunnel type" front sight with the interchangeable inserts would fit  the Slavia dovetails, now I know for sure that it does.

     I will agree to the comment about the removal of the "adjustment assembly", I tried it once and the trigger worked as good as before and better.

       The change of the piston seals took place in the years 2007-2008, all new rifles (630-631-634) are now using the same seal which looks similar to the Gamo/Diana shape (black coloured).

           As for the pellets used all the "magic" comes from the CZ barrel, it has produced the best results with a variety of ammo from all types of qualities - in some cases it has surpassed the behavior of HW barrels from my guns.
