Benjamin Marauder P-Rod

Okay, I ordered my 4th air gun the Marauder Pistol.  Should be arriving in a week or so, hopefully sooner.  I have the Syn-Rod and remember the paper stating that it was factory set to be filled at 3000psi which I wanted.  I am just wondering if the P-rod will be factory set to be filled at 3k psi as well?

prod seems to run best at between 2500-2700 in factory settings....with mods, a chrony is your best friend

BTW- the "lawyer induced"    gauge on my pistol, reads 490 psi higher than my +/- 1% accurate, digital fill gauge

YES!!  My new mrod shows about 500 psi more than my pump gauge...  Now I know what to trust

My synrod reads about 500 psi too high as well.

Amazon has a great deal on the prochrono with usb, or you can get it with the light kit.  I have fluorescents in the garage and need the light kit to make it work.

I got my P-rod today and was really happy to start shooting it.  So what you're saying is that if I fill up to 3000 psi going by the gauge on my pistol it really isn't reaching 3000 and is lower?  That kind of makes me nervous to go into the red.  I have a Syn-rod as well and I always fill it up to 3000 psi and noticed that my Crosman/Benjamin pump will read less though so I never go by what the pump says and only what the rifle and pistol say.  Now I don't know what to believe?!  I also experienced this the past couple times shooting my Syn-rod...the first shot I have been having the bolt blow back!!!  What is causing this?  Is the PSI too much???

I have some bad news....I just went to look at my P-rod tonight and it was drained completely.  I pumped it back up to 3000 psi and now I see it's slowly very slowly draining on the gauge.  It has to be a leak...I'm calling Crosman tomorrow morning first thing.

Exactly what do you mean by the bolt blowing back?

When it is turned down, the bolt should be incapable of moving backwards.


I also have a synth rod, but the gauge on it reads very close to both my pump gauge, and my carbon fiber tank gauge.

Mine is dated nov. 2013.

What's y'all's dates?

When Crosman changed gauges they went from bad to worse! 

At Discos R Us we pressure test all PCP we sell as a free service to the customer (we also shoot a complete string over our chrony and include the printout with the gun for FREE) and we see somewhere between 60 - 75 % of the gauge giving a higher pressure reading then our fill system gauge, which are very accurate. The factory gauges read 400 - 500 PSI higher than our higher quality gauges.

So if you fill your Marauder rifle or pistol that have the new style gauges to 3000 PSI in reality you are only filling to 2500 PSI possibly giving you a low shot count and lower FPS. Only using a Chrony can show you what is happening.

The only positive thing about this is that the error is in the safest direction. If it was reading 500 PSI lower and you filled using the factory gauge readout you would be at 3500 PSI. NOT GOOD!

Is there a way to tell the difference between the gauges by looking at them?  My woodswalker was made 2/14.  The first one I sent back was dropping 500psi in 24hrs, but seemed consistent with the gauge on the pump. The one I have now seems to match the 500psi discrepancy ya'll are talking about now. I wish I paid attention to the mfr. date on the first one, now.

If it helps any, the inexpensive $11/apx gage I got from McMaster is very close to my pump gage.  It reads within about 1/2 needle width.

I sent the Marauder Pistol back and I am getting the new one on Tuesday.  Hoping this one is a winner.  I also have another question if someone could be so kind to answer.  I have noticed since its been colder that it seems like my Marauder rifle is firing louder, like its making a blast from the back end of the rifle?  I also noticed today when going outside in the 38 degree weather that my gauge dropped about 50 psi.  I did find a thread on here that pcp will drop pressure with temp, but can they also fire louder because of temp too?

Yes you're correct I now recall that my bolt probably had been slipped up when shooting at the squirrel that day, causing it to blow back.

My M-rod reads 400+ psi higher than actual and my P-rod reads 200 psi higher than actual.

 Both my tank and Hill pump are in agreement with each other.

 The result was that I had more tuning to do when I "knew" that I had left more potential unused.

I found out my synrod gauge was off when I got my new prod, and swapped my AV tank for a benjamin one (with an airtanksforsale.com fill adapter - I guess PA puts those on the benjamin tanks). All my gauge - tank, prod, 909 agree, and the synrod reads about 300 high.

This allowed me to better tune my synrod, and went from 55 ES to 20 ES over 30 shots. I can put 30 shots in a .4" at 25 yards now. POI would wander a little when I had a higher ES.

My new prod gauge is right on the mark though.
