Polished/lubed hammer (polished/lubed the tube where the hammer resides)

Topped with a BSA Contender 4-16X40

It started as .177 and morphed into a .22.

I get my Pro Chrono tomorrow, so I will have shot strings, avg fps/fpe, and I will tune for accuracy.  Right now, getting 40 shots from 1900/2k psi down to 1200 psi with RVA in 3.5-4 turns.

Oh, yeah---about 450.00 in it right now.

I got in a trade, for a custom 2240 I built.

I probably have $3-400 in mine, but the original owner put over $1000 in it,
and it is nothing compared to some of the ones I see here..

I'm about the same but I don't include my scope. Prior converting my gun I did a lot of mods that brought up the cost of my build.

I didn't get a scope in the trade.
The $1000 was without glass.

This one is a 6-24 I got at a pawn shop for $30

Was wondering when someone would mention that most of these airguns are no longer Discos.  They are all really nice.  In fact, I'd trade my stock Disco for some of these custom jobs.  TKO and swivel kit is the only thing added.

Depends on what you mean by "Disco"
In my book if it retains the soul and the drawbacks of the system, then I think it's a Disco.
If the action is from a disco (tube/valve) It's a disco. I would love a bigger hammer, better breech attachment, thicker barrel sleeve in the breech, etc etc.
But I have to work within what the Tube allows.
Now if you define a Disco by only modifying the stock, scope, and in general just modify what's originally on it, then certainly most of these guns are not discos anymore.

filler cover i made
brass ldc adapter
geordie walnut stock
also now has a john small brass m-rod trigger(not shown in pic )
the 2250 with the hipac will be modded to have a shortened disco tube and robert lane reg fitted when i get time and i've a pistol gripped straight stocked one with a reg in and a bnm breech on the go at present but have been too busy with work to do more testing

Mine retains the factory tube, gauge and block, barrel, front & rear sight,(not that I use them) trigger guard, and safety.

Beyond that, not much..

But when you read the side of the gun, it does still say Benjamin Discovery.

I wanted a repeater with lots of shots, and a shrouded barrel, so I got a Marauder.
For a lot less than I could have bought and modified a Discovery for.

I build custom crosman 22xx guns, so I understand the addiction to building and tinkering.

Could I have built the disco into what it is myself?
Yes, but it would have been cost prohibitive.

I can't see talking a $200 gun and changing every part on it spending over $1000 on it.

When I could get a factory designed gun that performs close to my intended purpose then do slight mods, for a lot less.


A friend worked for a audio company that was giving away a car with a full blown kicker audio system as a grand prize.

They bought a Renault LeCar.(this thing was so cheap, it only had 3 lug nuts on each wheel)
The stereo they installed was 3 times more expensive than the car was.


Yes you can take a cheap car, put a lot of money and time in it and make it into something really unique, that YOU love, but in the end, when the next owner is looking to buy it, it is still a cheap car..

I think some people, like myself, love the tinkering, the experimentation with a inexpensive platform.
If I was only in it to shot, I would just get a good gun and call it a day. But for me, coming to the range and competition and giving Raw, Daystates, FX, Mach1's a run for their money with a Disco...is just cool.

See tomg, there are very few other airgunners in our area that shoot publicly. (But thanks to GTA we have found about 4 in our area)
So I don't get to shoot with them too often.

I DO enjoy going toe to toe with the powder burners at the local range.

I will stand there and shoot any anything they do out to 100 yards .

And I do it with my disco, or my $140 Bam B50.
And sometimes with the 2240's I build.

At 50yards and less none of them will even try to shoot the small things I do, such as empty pistol hulls and shotgun shells at 50 yards, and empty .22 hulls at 25-30 yards.
Their rugers just can't keep up with the accuracy.

I was pumping my B50 one day after taking 40 shots (about 2 minutes and 40 pumps on a 1500psi fill)
One of the rimfire guys made a comment about my pumping as he was packing up his rifle.

I asked him why he was quitting, he said due to the .22 ammo shortage, he rations his ammo, and he had shot the .22 ammo he had brought to the range. (50 rounds)

I asked him why don't he reload his .22's

He said you know as well as I do you can't reload .22.

As I settled in behind the b50, and loaded another .22 pellet,
I looked at him and said..
I JUST DID!

The look on his face was priceless...

I feel Daniel, Dave & Tom have the best ones out there by far!
I'm not done just yet, I have a few things left to do to mine, I also have 2 others.

Cost as of today = $950, I forgot to add the JDS parts LOL so about $1200.00 includes ammo as well.

50 yds. 5 Shots under a dime! light wind left to right 3 - 5 mph. Got to love it!
